Says 236ml on bottom of one my cups and 250ml on the other.

I used to get in a real tizz trying to convert cups. I bought a set of cup measures from poundland and found them invaluable.

In an American recipe a cup is half an American pint. So 8 fl oz or about 225ml. I once used half an Imperial pint in a recipe and failure ensued.

i need to make my mum a carrot cake for her birthday and my scales have just busted!! i've already been out once and dont really want to go out again in the rain
is it possible to convert the measurements into cups??

Could you just try an American recipe? They're usually already in cups. There's one here.

P.S. If you don't have official cup measures, find a teacup/glass that is about 240mls to use as your cup.
