Sorry -this is nothing to do with cooking but I need some help converting 1.5 litres into small mugs (I'm on a restricted fluid intake for medical reasons and this is the amount I'm allowed to drink)
I'm a bit of a 'plank' when it comes to measurements and OH has worked it out from our measuring jug to be around 6 small mugs a day.
Looking at various conversion tables on the net it all seemed to vary and I need to get it as exact as possible.
    Many thanks
    Mary

I may be being a bit thick:confused: but can't you simply pour a mugful of water into your measuring jug and see how it much it measures, then divide 1500ml by whatever your mug holds?

thriftlady - I'm rubbish with all this litres and ml stuff......OH poured 6 cups out and it came to roughly 1.5 litres but then I checked on the net and got totally mind boggled..............I'll have a go anyway. Thanks

Mary, I've just filled a standard mug with water to within about 1 cm of the rim. The amount of water is 250 ml, therefore your OH is right -6 mugfuls = 1.5 litres.

thriftlady - oh thankyou so much. Our measurements on the jugs are a bit faded and we need new ones and when I checked on the net I got so confused about it all...............least now I know I'm drinking the right amount.:T

totally correct. I have a tea for one set so the cup is smaller but not quite a child cup size, and it works (until i got a set of cup measures for £3 or something on ebay, priceless! And theres tea spoon and all the smaller ones. I would never use a teaspoon or tablespoon to measure now, such a difference so worth investing on if you have a couple pounds

Something like this or these are the ones i bought
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

    Hi mirry,

There is an existing thread with lots of information about using cups in recipes so I've added your question to it to keep the replies together.

I have a cookie recipe in cups which is fine except that measuring the butter is a real faff and they seemed to turn out greasy which makes me think I packed the butter too firmly into the measure. Does anyone know how much a cup of butter would weigh?
