My pyrex type glass jugs have cup measures on them as well as pints and ml's, might be worthwhile checking yours too.
They will be UK cups not US.
A cup is half a pint, but a UK pint is 568 ml, whereas a US pint is 473 ml, quite a difference.
Therefore UK cup = 284 ml
US cup = 237ml0 -
Many thanks for all your comments. It's complicated and for me whose poor brain is addled I think I will have to relent and buy some cups. Its just I have been trying not to buy any kitchen bits this year = a sort of mini challenge as my kitchen looks like a mini version of Lakeland at the best of times. Still a good excuse for a mooch and an browse and a.......I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had a link to a reliable conversion website.
I've tried google but there us a lot of variation eg. 1 cup of confectioners (icing sugar) sugar is 120g on some websites and 125g on others!
If someone could recommend a good website I'd appreciate it as I would like to try a cupcake recipe from billy's bakery ( anyone tried it)?

You'll find it a LOT easier to just go to Sainsburys and buy a set of cup measures. They only cost a couple of quid but you'll be able to make all the US recipes you find (like Martha Stewart) without having to keep converting everything.
I don't like using cup measures, but I like it a lot better than doing maths!0 -
