Cheers beanie. It certainly feels that way.

Dinner cooking as I write (and its wall to wall leftovers to boot) and chooks are laying well - much to be grateful for. A LSD today - just £10.84 on groceries and £5.50 on reduced bread from the local bakers so am bagging that as a LSD.

I may change 'my' rules on NSDs as well...as money goes out of the account most days for dinner money, lessons, (cleaner ;))..and count it as a NSD unless I spend money that was not pre-planned..but the austerity of not being able to currently count it as a NSD unless nothing at all leaves my hands does appeal also...decisions, decisions.

Had a quick estimate and think I am on track for the savings rate goal too :) Will hopefully be plenty to put against the CC debt this and next month :D

Have a great evening folks :)

NSDs can be great, but I realised I sometimes made daft decisions based on them - for example if I'd had a NSD at work but realised I needed to buy horse feed. I'd be driving past the door, and not buy it to protect the NSD - then the next day would have to drive a half hour round trip to get it. Also I never counted DDs and only bothered about transactions where I physically handed over cards or cash.

Clever chooks. :T Do you find them easy to keep? I think we'd be inundated with foxes here :(.
    0% card was £1126.91 / Now £1502.37

I am with you on that MFM...it's not necessarily triggering the right behaviour. I think I will count a NSD if I don't spend any money outside the pre-planned items. If the kids take in dinner money etc then if I don't spend any money that's a NSD. The main thing for me, with the new 2017, very tight budget is to minimise the 'leakage' and 'impulsive' spends and 'cos I'm worth it' spends.

I did however treat myself to a lovely (slightly reduced) planner today which I saw advertised. Journal, diary and gorgeous notebook all in one. Excited to be getting that, and will be spending 38% of my spending money for the month on it.

    Have a great weekend folks

  • I must have tempted fate when I posted about my cashback on an insurance - this week I got an email to say it was all tracked and ready to cash out so have requested the money and will hopefully have £50 to move to my credit card next week some time.

Hope your cashback gets sorted soon.

I am on the Ninja Saving Turtles thread and one of our goals is NSD's - everyone counts it differently so you just have to do what is right for you.

Personally I don't count direct debits or standing orders and only count other spends (food/pet food but not medical). I am lucky in that DD's school do the dinner money differently so I can top up her account online once a month and not have to worry.

I try to keep all my spending to a few days a week - usually weekends as I don't have time in the week to go to a shop.

Brilliant news EE..well done on the cash back.

As it happens, maybe the positive karma was there for me too..although not in the way I had expected it! I received £75 M&S gift card through the post today from the insurance provider. Weird. But maybe I will get this and the TCB? Very exciting if so, as can always use the gift card for birthday or Xmas gifts or basics like tights. Have just requested a small payout from TCB. Better with me than them :) - and done it as BACS...no temptation to spend on any unnecessaries then.

I have just loaded some items onto Bay of E to try and make an impact on my sales target. Decluttering is slow though at 3 items. Rubbish. Need to do some more tomorrow if I get a chance. Met up with a friend today and did grocery shop and household chores and the day seems to have disappeared! Fingers and toes crossed for me on the EBay front please.

Excited too re the 2 months of no CT. Will chuck that at the CC debt too from next month :D

    Morning!

Had a rethink about the CT and have decided to use it as a starting point for an EF and will put it into a separate bank account to make it harder to access. £350 (2 mths worth) will wing its way there next month. Adding a reminder to my journal now.

I was going to take the bus to drop DD2 at a club, but its only about 5 mins quicker than walking so we will walk...she doesn't know yet ;) but this could mean a NSD :)

    Have a good day folks

All sounding positive and very organised. I bought an A4 diary to track my daily expenditure in. Last year DD bought be an organiser for Christmas but ended up not using it half the time. So far I've been tracking in the diary and determined to keep it up.
