Where do you get rid of your jewellery Brizzle. I have some broken/no longer worn items that I could do with getting rid of.
Sounds like you're back on trackI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Thanks SA - I certainly feel feisty about killing off all the debt! And getting rid of the mortgage
Most of mine is limited value as its costume jewellery so it's going to the CS. But if yours is precious metal can you weigh and send off to a specialist? I think the return can be quite good from what I have read on these threads in the past.
Another good day at work. It'll be a long week but it's going well and I am looking forward to a glass of vino. OH leaves tomorrow thoso wont all be plain sailing I am sure

Hi brizzle :hello:
Have just been reading through your diary from beginning of the year and really enjoyed it. It has also made me very hungry! Lovely food you serve at your house! You amaze me with how much you get done!
Re jewellery - a few months ago my sister sorted out her "old" gold - she took it around to A few local jewellers and found there was quite a difference between them on what they were prepared to offer. Might be worth a trawl around! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Thanks seasidegal..very sweet of you to say. We do like food..and debt busting and most of the time we do stick to it..but that's not to say that we don't eat (and drink!) quite a bit. Our grocery bills are fairly huge and despite our buying organic local meat etc, organic local fish and veg...etc etc. which we are determined not to compromise on, we do also just buy a lot quantity wise.
We fed our lodger organic roast chicken pieces and a scrummy watercress, tahini quinoa salad today..he loved the chicken..but believe he will take more time to get used to quinoaWe tried him with a mussel a few days ago..that was also a miss, bless him :rotfl: DD1 made dinner btw..bless her, it was amazing...
It was a NSD day today!! Whoop whoop...think I am met my monthly target for the first time in well, forever. If I can find 8 more items to declutter I will have a full house target wise...must scout around tomorrow
SA..hope you get to sell the old jewellery for a handsome profit. Need to realise those assets
A good day. Busy few days ahead, but working from home which will be a lot less stressful.
Hope everyone is well.
Over and out

Found a pair of football boots that we tried to sell on EBay but they didn't go....they are now in hall ready to go to CS.

And so it remained at 7 items below my target..but could have been worse...
Work is full on so I am juggling that as well as hosting 2 teenagers for the weekend, no OH and the usual stuff around my 2. But so far all going well. Lots of headaches from stress and hormones but bit calmer today.
MSE it's a new month so plans for the month are:
- 5:2 at least one day a week, probably Mondays
- YNAB is all up to date
- new targets set for NSDs, sales and decluttering -6, £100 and 50 respectively which will be hard but if I don't try...etc etc
- screen time is as excessive as ever...but currently reading the Recovering Spender in front of the fire with DD1 on the Xbox...so not all bad
- meal planning is going very well, everyone eating pretty much everything. Sunday lunch tomorrow...have a nice joint of beef which will leave plenty of leftovers too for maybe cottage pie? DD1 has agreed to take the lead whilst I work:j
- have set up the pension and ISA DD again which feels good. I also 'discovered' a pension pot I didn't realise I still and, so have asked for that to be transferred to my main HL platform..it'll increase my base SIPP by c.20% so that's pretty welcome. I am already thinking of using some of it to dabble in some shares a la SF's Frugal Cottage blog. Will keep you posted.
- doing TTs every day.
- piece of household maintenance that's been overdue for about 15 years is on its way to being resolved. Will cost £350 odd but will be worth it and just about have enough in the reserve to pay for it.
- ordered an M&S voucher from Bounts. Know there's been a bit of bad press recently but if I get £25 for the price of £20 I'll be happy and will use for school uniforms or Xmas
- DD2 has reluctantly accepted a permanent paper round...I think she knows she needs the money, but not all too keen re an early start at the weekend...but have assured her we will help where we can. She likes having cash and we won't increase her pocket money (to be fair she hasn't asked) so she really needs to get creative.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend and the sun shines for you
