    2. 5:2 - hopeless. Last Monday was a write off. Maybe I will try again today as I am home and can just IV black coffee? :rotfl: OK, folks, will do.

I find I am better on 5:2 when I am at work because I can keep busy whereas at home I want to raid the cupboards.

If you need to ease yourself into 5:2 you could start on approx. 800 calories on the 2 days and then the week after reduce to 700 on the 2 days until you are down to the recommended 500.

I know when I restarted a few months ago I found the first few weeks really tough.

    Good Luck with it.

Hi TC  Lovely to 'see' you but boo to nasty bill. That's not great, I sympathise :(

Hi EE - thanks for popping by, , that's interesting what you say re 5:2. I think I am the same. It's been a long old week already, but am thinking if I can summon up the energy, I might try it tomorrow. I am work so that should make it easier, I agree. Wish me luck.

Another watcher and a TT to the pesky CC. Small spend (£7) on veggies and fruit for the teenagers. Not bad. Could be worse and our new 'job' as a host family means rightly meals are pretty structured which we are all benefitting from :)

Hi Brizzle  well done on the structured meals-we are doing better as of late. :)

I'm interested in the 5:2 too. I exercise several times a week-this is a bit of a novelty as I'm new to making time for regular exercise several times a week. Lol
Am I right in thinking I should do the 2 on non exercise days? And should I do the 5 days together and then the 2 days together? Or can I split them up please?
That said, I'm now eating much more healthily so not looking to do it straight away, I want to see how this healthy eating lark goes. :)
Thanks for any hints and tips.

Hi, I split the 2 days up to make it less gruelling. Monday and Thursday so my weekends are more fun! But people vary depending on lifestyle I think.

I tend only to do moderate exercise on a fast day, but again I'd listen to how your body feels and act accordingly

Must dash to work now, have been snoozing! :o

  • Was just coming to post the same as Brizzle - I split my 2 days - I think it's easier as you know that whatever you want on the fast day you just have to wait until the next day to have it.

    I do Tues & Thurs.

Personally I would not do any exercise on a fast day but a lot of people do, I think you just need to listen to your body and not do anything too heavy.

Mumsnet have an amazing 5:2 thread that moves quite quickly but they have some really experienced people posting to answer people's questions.
The 5:2 on here is more for support than actual indepth analysis etc.

Mr SA doesn't for scooter tyres he's on Motability. It was a thorn in his tyre from where someone had been cutting their hedge.

I toyed with 5:2, even bought a cookbook, but ended up at WW eventually, which worked and I lost the 10lbs I wanted to. Took me ages as I didn't stick to it 100% but I did it by making small changes.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

My OH was very successful on 5:2 but ended up living on skinny soups on his low cal days............DD2 and I find low carbing very successful - I thought I would miss bread pasta and rice but didnt..........just ate a whole lot less of it and dropped potatoes and cereals completely. Its all crept back in slowly but easy to restart again

Yes I think it's a good idea. Only health strategy that has really made sense as I am not a WW or SW kind of girl. Having said that its been a gruelling few weeks so I am failing miserably. Going to work without lunch means I head for a sandwich.

Having porridge most days though and doing lots of steps.

Today have made some TTs, shuffled cash and done some PC surveys/pre- survey work. Also updated the panels total so hopefully that's a hefty amount into our bank account in a few months or so.

A domestic day today. Will keep you posted. Hoping to take cats to the vets today - across town but recommended as hugely cheaper than local folks. Will keep you posted!

Low key day as over indulged last night! When will I learn. But lovely to hook up with good friends and didn't spend anything.

The vets was pretty much a success. I can see it cost us £72 less than last year (when it was over £200) and although the cats were miserable and stressed in the car and we then waited 50 mins to be seen I think for regular check ups, vaccinations etc that's worth doing.

No bids but 12 watchers. Hope it goes..

Have meal planned for next week and did a SM shop. Simple meal this eve - Tuna Pasta Bake and green veggies - and a venison roast tomorrow.

Gardens tidied and all tomato plants etc taken out and on compost heap. Sign of Autumn - almost lit fire today, but resisted!

Hope everyone is well and having a good weekend

    Xx
