Hi there PF and gang...thanks. you're very kind. Not sure I feel it all the time though..

Mortgage company have, once again, not called when they said they would. Shambles. Do I give up now? Its tempting. This has been going on for some weeks. Have sent a chaser but at time of writing they are 20 mins late. Not good.

So... plan for today & tomorrow as unlike the external appearance I may give ;) :rotfl: inside I am not feeling particularly focussed...

    1. Support DD2 in her final exams on Friday.. SOME
    2. Arrange a sleepover etc party for DD1
    3. Buy some small gifts for DD1
    4. Cook dinner from freezer for family (I am fasting though) IN PREPARATION, also did some shopping for party, using MOV
    5. Clean house NOT A CHANCE SO FAR!
    6. Take items to tailor for alterations DONE
    7. Get hair cut DONE
    8. Do estimate of likely income from van hire this year DONE looking forward to raising those invoices :)
    9. Some correspondence with mortgage guys...interesting idea of extending term, unlimited overpayments permitted but as long as we were strict about putting it by, would be interesting. Also wonder if I should phone our current bank and say what better product could they give us? It'd save on legal fees etc....may do that tomorrow.

Will add to it as I go...but thats the starter

    Hi

    Advice please..

We currently have a mortgage comprising 3 loans, two of which are fixed rate, and one (the largest element) which is a tracker, pegged to the BOE rate, all with 9 years to go. We paid no arrangement fee. There is a small ERP of c. £500.

The proposal is to extend the term, have a fixed rate for say 2 years, (lower than the combined rates above) - there will be an arrangement fee.

As we are trying to pay off our mortgage early we will be making 10% (or max allowed) overpayments every month. And stashing the rest, ready to pay it off in full in 5 years time. We are adamant about this. Extending the term is partly about the new affordability requirements, (particularly as I am FL), and it would have some contractual advantages if our circumstances changed. I just wanted to review our current mortgage product as I wanted to pay less interest if I could. Not necessarily pay a smaller monthly amount.

I have been sent a proposal from a broker, but what I am lacking is a calculator that enables me to compare the two options and see that changing is actually worth it.

Does anyone know how I do this?

    Thanks guys

    Xx

It doesn't allow me to compare 2 products with different terms. Pain.

Brizzle I downloaded one from the MF board that one of the amazing people there had created. It was one one of the main threads. If you search 'mortgage repayment calculator' in the forums rather than site it should come up. I think that will do it for you. I would offer to send it you but I saved it to 'numbers' on my pad and not sure how to get that in a mail :o if you don't find it, give me a shout and I will either try and fix my lack of knowledge on ^^ or search for the thread I found it on. It was only a couple of weeks ago.

PF..I couldn't see it. Could you try and find the thread for me? It'd be a huge help.

Feel v low today. A woman doing her job, with such a strong moral compass died in a horrific senseless way yesterday...feel so so sad. Juxtaposed with Farage's 'poster' just makes me feel sick.

    So...what will I do today..

    - hug my husband and kids just that little bit more often and tightly
    - up my contribution to charities working in Syria/the refugee areas nearby and further afield
    - clean my house so I feel calm and like I have achieved something and then that picks up item 5. from my 'to do' list yesterday

Hugs to everyone...we are a powerful group on here of strength and positivity...lets keep it that way and be a force for good

Well said. Such brave words from her husband.

I feel the events of yesterday are so shocking because of our laws that restrict firearms. Such an event for us is still thankfully rare. There are parts of the world, parts of the 'civilized' world, where this is not the case. Where there is an out pouring of grief and horror and outrage and support and rhetoric and soothing words and determination to make change..........and nothing changes until the next time and then there is an out pouring of grief and horror and outgrage and support and rhetoric and soothing words and determination to make change..........and nothing changes........
