Oh my goodness...you don't hang about! :D Excellent news. Well done...more decluttering to fit him in then?? ;)

Thanks for popping by OF...hows you? I was in your county last week and 'waved' from the traffic jam that was the Bank Hols traffic..uggh. Lovely trip though.

All good with me and mine. DD1 is starting GCSEs..can't quite get my head around fact that she is that old! :o I am also being asked to think about going full time. Its more money of course and a sign of their faith in what I do but not sure I can manage it. Hmm, will have to think on it over the weekend. Would need some changes at home..less time to do things like cooking from scratch.

    Hope everyone is well

    Hi Brizzle

I am doing well thank you- should be debt free in the next 3/4 month which will be amazing!

Where did you come to visit then in my neck of the woods?

Have you made a decision about he offer of full time yet?

    It's a hard one!

I changed from part to full time when my two were old enough to look after themselves. Having the extra money is great at first but then you start cutting your cloth accordingly and you start taking it for granted. It's hard work at first but you get used to it. Could you come to a compromise and do, say, 30 hours? I would love to reduce my hours but unfortunately I need the money.

sunaddict- I went full time when my girls were 9 and 7 as there were a lot easier at this age for people to look after them. They were a bit young still I think. At nearly 10 and 12 I'm feeling a lot happier now

I'd love to reduce my hours but after we get rid of this last bit of debt we are then saving for a house deposit....then no doubt there will be things we need to do to the house....then I will want to make mortgage overpayments! It's never ending!

Well not exactly that close OF but had a chalet hols with friends in Brixham. It was ace, we have been there for a few years now. £88 for 3 nights for 2 bed chalet with sea view. We all love it.

Traffic back though was rubbish. They need to finish building that link road!

Not decided yet SA or OF re hours. OH not keen as I work about 36-40 hours as it is. But am tempted by the money and building up a 'rainy day' fund if I am ill etc. Still thinking on it tbh

On MSE news.. Just out of contract so have moved to buying handset (pricey so not v. MSE) but new fee for unlimited calls etc is half what it was. Got new better deal for DD1 and handset as well so pleased about that.

Had eve away from OH using up points from using (and paying off each month) a CC. Made a massive difference to the bill for the day

    Have a great weekend folks

If there is one thing I could go back and change is working PT rather than FT even though I have school holidays I feel we always had to cram everything into those times. As the bread winner in the household though I felt I had to work FT. If I knew then, at the start of my working life, what I do now regarding money/MSE etc, I dont think our lifestyle would have been very much different..............it is a big regret for me but I entered the job market in the mid 80's and it was a whole different ball game then!

Hello - thanks for popping by. Keeping quiet about my intentions at the moment. OH really not keen, thinks that now money is so much less of an issue its the 'time' that's the issue rather than cash. Given where DD1 is with exams etc I do have to agree. However...with a heavy workload and a surprisingly inability to say 'no' I have agreed to work another day this week. 50+ hours. I figure that's plenty without committing to doing it every week! If it gets mentioned again I will bite the bullet and decide.

Having a glass of wine. Hey it's Tuesday!:o

On money/MSE front - bags off to CS, kids having pack ups rather than school lunches, negotiated £1 pm (!) decrease on monthly energy DD :o and lodger is staying for foreseeable future. £400 a month from her helps fund the kids long term savings plan so that whatever happens they will have something..just don't get me started on what happened last Thursday....grr
