Well done on the listings :T and nice to repurpose the furniture.

Which series of the killing are you watching, the Danish or USA? I've seen neither but it's one I'd like to watch.

    Hi Brizzled

Shelves to be eBayed might be made into a bench if OH is handy?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    Hi all

For some reason my diary was deleted from my subscription lists..was someone trying to tell me something:rotfl:

Aah...Peppa Pig..my 2 were less into that one but loved the merchandise! I think camping is a great thing to do with kids..especially younger ones.

the Killing..it's in Danish. Very much so! it's great. Beautifully written. Would offer to Lend them to you but it is on loan to me so not sure I can. It's the way to go wth box sets don't you think. The guy who lent them to me I am due to lend the Wire to.. Its a good way of only buying the box sets that you really really want..which in our house is now only Merlin!! :rotfl:

Thanks Satchmo...I think the shelves would be better off being sold as a set. They are simple pine boards on metal fixings. But I am hopeful we may just be able to inherit a bench or else pick up one that needs some work. There were quite a few on EBay, collection only, I noticed last week and within a sensible journey from here. We are, for example, taking an old wooden chair from neighbour down to the allotment where it will be nice to just sit and have a coffee. At the moment our only seats are pallets..I mean they are very nice pallets and under an apple tree but a proper chair will be a nice addition!

Well today..mixed success but means everything to play for tomorrow! Still not finding EBay stuff. It's harder to find now...must now start looking under the beds and maybe enquire what is in the loft:eek: ( good job I can't manage the ladder at the moment maybe:rotfl:)

    Over and out

    Morning Mrs B and friends!

You're doing so well on the eBay front, I wish I was better at it. You've shamed me into putting a couple of items on today [watch this space and nag me if nothing happens!]

I believe in the box sets too, wonderful way to spend a couple of hours on an evening when there's nothing on the television and the huge plus point - no advert breaks! I am a little naughty about how I borrow mine. I just happen to mention to DS1 or DS3 that I've heard that xyz series is really good and they buy it, naturally I ask if I can borrow it. Luckily for me I'm not into girly type series :rotfl:

    Hi all

I am having a quiet day today but one job I am trying to get my head around is budgeting for the big spends this year..you know whether we can afford a gym membership for the family ( we had one last year which is coming to an end), afford a new front door...you know the kind of thing! So far there are quite a few wants and I am still not sure we can afford them...or how we will raise the money. So it's sobering and surprisingly good discipline.

I will let you know how I get on!

I'm another fan of boxsets - we tend to pick them up cheap at bootsales and then re-sell them once we're done with them.

We've been looking at some of the jobs needing doing and which ones we can afford to do this year. It can be sobering indeed!

    Hi jwil

I haven't done a car boot sale for a long time, I hadn't thought of picking them up there, but there again, getting the boys to buy them is probably the easier option! I've just sent a few off to music magpie, if they accept them I'll get about £15 back.

I think my house is falling down around me, I daren't look too hard at the jobs that need doing. I've had a quote for £3k to redo the rendering on the back of the house  I'm afraid it's going to have to stay as it is for the time being. As you say, very sobering....

    Hi Piq

Maybe pick up some new skills to do some of the tasks? Go on a rendering course ( I am not entirely joking!) you seem practical enough :) .or maybe swop some time or work with someone who can help you- Like you do some marketing FOC for someone in return for a reduced price on your work?

There are some great self builds round my neck of the woods and some of those guys hadnt even built a wall before they started..

Ok away with the bizarre advice and back to my book club book!!:rotfl:

OK..so a stern talking to is needed..

Despite the small steps over the last few months..my CC bill has gone up by £1587. 58!! (Sig has been amended there is no point in hiding from you guys!! Its like hiding from myself!)Thats the ski lessons, some new work clothes and boots (must be some other stuff) and some, to be fair, will be expenses I get back. But its not before the £280 I spent yesterday on van insurance!

This is bonkers and has to stop:mad:

I have had my LBM....what is it?? I assume its all the 'extras' we just add that are not in the budget. Today I will go back and look at my SOA and also look at that "Spends for 2012" list I am working through so I get a clearer picture. I also have a stash of £1487.56 which I will now put against the mortgage - some is already earmarked for some work on the house and a gift for my OH's last year's big birthday present..but at least in the meantime it can be used to pay off some interest.

Lets hope I get a bonus..should find out soon..this week maybe? But anyway thats not changing my habits - its just another way of a short term fix that doesn't sort out the root problem.

Thanks all for reading. If its wasnt for the support (and hopefully some justified nagging:eek: ) that I get on this forum I would probably just be sailing merrily on

    Am I allowed to scream??

    AAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHH

Its like I am worrying about the pennies when I am continuing to spend the pounds!!
