Thanks Mags  It's great to have you posting on my diary, thank you for your kind words, and I saw you had posted in Alex's board just now :)

It is close...I am getting impatient though. :D

Not so impatient that I ordered some curtains though :o. Guess gotta have some reasonable experiences along the way and I am looking forward to a cleaner, saner, less cluttered room in which to sleep and relax.

Great meal..everyone helped clear up :D. Sitting down now for a bit.

Hope everyone has a great week

    Hey,

Keep up the hard work and all the posts. All are really useful and I am finally finding that I am getting used to the abbreviations.

    :money:

I'm also getting there with the abbreviations, but Brizzle what are TTs??? You seem to do an awful lot of them so I'm thinking they're pretty important! ;)

Aha..they are Tilly Tidies..named after the wonderful Tilly MFW in 6 Years ;)

Basically they are 'tidying' up your account, putting the pennies from the balance or a few pounds towards the debts ( or in Mrs T's case towards her MFW goal) . So if my current account says £32.56 I might transfer across 56p or even £2 to the CC (as I like to see everything rounded to the nearest £10;)) I try and do it every day and it's great to see the impact on the debt without really trying..

    I do recommend it! :)

I only round to a fiver, but then I get frustrated that the credit card isn't rounded to a fiver and round that down from the bank account which leaves an odd amount, so that gets rounded off to the credit card - I had to give up in the end or I'd have TT'd all the bill money :rotfl:

I know what you mean Caz! :rotfl: My personal vice is to do the rounding several times a day... Which makes me lurch towards the red :o but basically I now hate seeing my account with pennies on the available balance :)

Just found your diary and read the first couple of pages. Mrs. K. and I used to have a similar salary between us and still managed to find ourselves in debt (this current lot I am trying to clear is the second time, our first time we were bailed out by my parents).

It seems you are so close now though.

To everyone struggling with abbreviations, I too find them rather difficult to understand and then forget what they mean after I've been told, not sure the point of them in all honesty.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Thanks Alex. It's been a gruelling 8 or 9 months or so, everything has been liquidated to pay down the debt. We have also had a lodger and tried very hard to be frugal. It's not all been grim ;) we have been skiing (albeit on a v tight budget..£1.5k all in for 4) but spent last summer in Wales :)

    So today..

    1. Waiting for the scores on the doors...should be a giant leap forward ( to paraphrase a US astronaut)

    2. Bread in the BM...it's being nursed through..it's semi broken ( like my dishwasher) but we are trying to make it last... query: why does everything break at once??! And just when you just think you are getting straight ????

    3. Sausage casserole in the SC. Found some amazing and cheap sausages in the Co-.p. V tasty, v meaty. Well impressed for SM meat.

    4. Just off to the Asian SM to stock up on some staples...so small spends to set us up for meal planning for the month.

    5. We have agreed to have a student (maybe 2 if our lodger leaves) in the summer, for 3 weeks. Whilst a pain to do pack up lunches etc, the money will be handy, it gets paid in advance :) and will help pay for our summer holiday. Haven't decided what we are doing yet, but it'll all help.

Laters folks, have chores to do :)

    Hi Brizzled.

Just dropping in to say hello and admire your achievements so far - you are so nearly there - well done to you. :j

When I get a bit more time I will go through and read more of your diary - you've done well and I need all the tips I can get.:)
  • Hi Brizzle.

Everything is sounding good at your end, Love the idea about the student, something I may think of doing in future years when the kids have fled the nest and we have more room.

Have you tried freecycle for a bread maker, often people have these items lurking in garages and back of cupboards.

Hope you managed to get all the chores done.x.

Well I would NEVER have worked that one out for myself!! My goodness that sounds addictive - I like to feel like I'm doing something productive towards the debt busting every day, even during the more difficult periods such as now - this sounds like just the ticket!! Thanks very muchly :):D
