DFW I agree only so many body lotion sets you can get excited about! So I kind of turn my wants into need at Xmas so family and friends still feel they are treating me eg - there is lovely body scrub from x that I just haven't got round to getting or so & so do a lovely candle that I just can't seem to find in the shops lol - I get to fulfil all my mini needs and they think they have found the pressie of the century

    Hello all

Well we made the most of this lovely mild and sunny day with a long long walk around Cheddar Gorge. Haven't been there for years and it was great. Walked for around 2.5 hrs and then collapsed ( lots of steep hills after all!) into a fab pub nearby for bar snacks. Delish and a treat we all really cherished. I think that's been one of the best things about this journey towards DFdom has been learning to appreciate everything and treats are to be earnt and thought about rather than becoming the norm, the everyday.

Going to church tomorrow and then out out for a family meal. So an expensive week what with Xmas but hopefully we will scrape through. Most presents bought for immediate family, just need to sort the reminder, and make that vodka!! Luckily have bought the ingredients.

OH has done some OT too which will all help.

Lots of OPs haven't gone through as despatched them on Friday eve when I left work and could look at the totals but am hoping I am getting tantalisingly close to the £5k and then I can worry about :

    1. £1.5k for skiing
    2. Xmas presents. Trad meal is probably off and it'll be a wicked brunch instead! ;)
    3. House insurance which I think will be around £300 but will try and use QuidCo etc etc..

Onwards and upwards. Hope everyone is jolly but hugs to those who need 'em

  • Hey brizzle - i think you have encapsulated the things we learn to appreciate in treats being earned and special because they aren't an everyday occurence. Sounds like fab family time was had - you'll be hitting the 4's next :D

Scotdebs - hi  Next time i'll definitely do that 'ooh i've been looking for' but still worry my gifts are deemed far too practical to be gifts :rotfl:

    Hope everyone is well x

  • Hi Brizzle, you're right this journey makes you value and appreciate everything. I would rather have less stuff in my life, more time with my family and treasure what we have together.

    Good luck with your OPs.

Ditto! It's a hard journey but you really do value people and time above money by the end of it.

  • Awww Brizzle this is what we're just finding, we really appreciate the 'treats' when we allow them but in between those times there is just so much loveliness that can be found with family and friends that we appreciate even more :)

Getting rid of debt AND learning stuff, can't be bad can it?! ;)
