((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))) to Tru and Donna. Hope everything's going ok tonight.
Welcome to the forum Newbies.Only been posting a few days myself.
Some photos for those what want to see 'em. Hope they don't come out too large...
My gorgeous daughter playing in the snow :
Daughter with a snowman that the local children had made :
The view on the green :
We had about 4 - 5 inches in the end - it's still snowing a little now - those tiny dancy flakes, nothing large....but it is COLD out there.
Interestingly all the rabbits have come out of their hutch to huddle in the snow....0 -
Moggins - Was it you that mentioned the Curried Parsnip Soup a few days ago? If so, can I have the recipe pls?
Here you go
I've never made it before but I used the recipe in Lindsey Bareham's "A Celebration of Soup" I used parsnips, onion, potato and fried that with some butter and a teaspoon of curry powder. Sweated it down for 10 minutes then added what seemed like a gallon of ham stock and simmered it till all the veggies were soft and then shoved it in the liquidiser. I think I could have used a little less curry powder as it is very spicy but still very yummy.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

evening all - what lovely photos - dd took dgs out this morning to see the snow he was unimpressed, said "bye snow" and went back in. Popped into see her for a cup of tea on my way home and stayed for two hours again  so I'm really behind now.
10yo dds grommets appointment has come through so she may not need the hearing aid just yet - the pre-assesment is on monday with the operation on the 23rd so we are going to write a list of questions to ask. i've had a cry because we waited a year for this the last time. She had a kidney removed when she was two so the last time she had this operation she had to stay in for a day either side but this time the consultant thinks she will be ok for day surgery - just wondering how long she will need to stay off school. the last time i took two weeks off but that was during the school holidays. i will ask about it on monday but does anyone have any experience so that i can give work a heads up tomorrow. They are great really and there will be no problem - it's low income but family friendly which is important to me at the moment.
Got another £2 giftcard from asda tonight - a reduced pitta bread that scanned at full price - have decided to save them up as pressies but i will need to check how long they last - this is my fourth since new yearI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
dlb - so glad it went well for you, you have obviously both done a really good job bringing up your children for them to be so 'easy' with this news - im really pleased for you both xxx
stefejb - not sure how long your DD will need off school, maybe a week? maybe check with her consultant so you can notify your work, but also see how DD is, you will know when she is up to going back. Hope it all goes well for her xx0 -
dlb So pleased it went well, shows what a good job you have done with them to handle whatever they have to due to the love you have shown them.

Hi everyone,
Is there any room for a newbie? I have been "flying" with Moggins for a few weeks now and going great. I keep discovering new things on this site all the time and loving it. I have always (since getting married 17 years ago) tried to cook from scratch, learned to cook from my mother at a young age. I grudge paying for a jar with lots of additives that tastes awful anyway.
My DD had 3 friends over for tea today. I had made bolognese sauce in the slowcooker (lean mince, tomatoes, grated carrot, herbs, garlic, onion) and had made my own garlic bread. For afters I had made a quick chocolate cake I saw on one of the threads here today.
Anyway, one friend said: "your mum is a great cook, my mum only cooks from packets, and another said: Yes my mum can't cook very well, she cooks ready made things from packets and the third friend never even had bolognese, just spaghetti from a tin.
I think it is so sad that those kids will not grow up with homecooked meals and what will they do when they leave home?
needless to say my DD agreed proudly that her mum was a good cook and she said to them that SC are great, you just put everything in and it cooks itself!! :rotfl:0 -
dlb so pleased it went well, for all of you, your kids are a credit to you both.
Well for some bizarre reason I ended up doing 3 hours study, now my head hurts! Lost track of time, went up at 7.30pm, came down just before 11pm, if DP haddn't came back for the loo I'd probably still be there now. Got loads done which is great. Pleased he came back as still haven't finished drying DSs quilt and had forgot to start washer for tomorrows uniforms, oh darn it, now I have to stay up until it's finished!
DS realised tonight his fish had died just before bedtime, got quite upset (life revolves around fish and anything to do with water) promised him we'll get a new one at the weekend. One day I might be more organised...........

Evening, Hope I don’t miss everyone tonight, although I’m sure most of you are tucked up by now.
Thanks for all the Birthday wishes, made me feel almost good enough to forgive DH for a) taking a holiday, and b) thinking scissors were a great gift.
Bless his little swollen ankle.
Nels hope your journey back is/was a safe & straightforward one.
(tiredmum)Sorry to hear about DD2’s cancelled ball, are they putting it on some other time?
Moggins I’m a teacher & I’d have happily told my kid’s school they were sick on a day like today. Poor “Little” chap!
PP sorry to hear of your need for painkillers this a.m. hope they worked
Dlb don’t apologise for the huge pics, they’re gorgeous gave me a smile this evening.
…. Oh Donna, just read your later post, best wishes to you and your lovely family.
Roz_V Just a little further North than you, and not even as much snow as your slight dusting. (Nice Pic)
Frugalfairy Hope your DD22 (22?) was OK You shouldn’t worry too much, things seem more geared to snow in the North than the South.
Lil_me depending on the age of your DS I used to find dropping a peach slice in the tank fooled them for a while (that they still had a fish that is)
