    Good Morning everyone

Am VERY happy (and slightly shocked) that my laundry is totally up to date apart form 1 t-shirt of OH which needs ironing. The temptation is to put it to one side till Ive got some more to do, but we all know where that will lead - to the Great British Ironing Heap :D so I will do that in a min!
So far this morning I've updated my list of what I have in the freezer - dont know where its all come from  Now I need to look at some new recipes, as Chicken Curry and Fish 'N' Chips are wearing a little thin! Compiling a comprehensive shopping list, what I need this week, and what Im going to need in the next few weeks but only when on offer:D
Todays cooking is gonna be a HM Chicken Curry (yea I know I said its getting a bit tired, but its a lovely one with all freshly ground spices, yum!)
    and some home-made Chappatis.
Taplady - What a terrible thing to have happened - big hugs to you and your friend - she must be very thankful to have a friend like you:A
Sunflower I was feeling exactly the same about my breadmaker, cant remember the last time it was dusted down and plugged in, then yesterday I found a bag of Bread Mix lurking in the back of my cupboard - 6 months out of date but in the spirit of not chucking stuff away I gave it a whirl - ITS LOVELY!! DH said we're not buying bread anymore, just keep a mix in and bake as needed :j

Hope you all have a safe, warm, productive day, and anyone in need of a hug - have one of mine :smileyhea
Don't put it DOWN, put it AWAY! ;)
You can't expect to Fly if you're still wearing your pyjamas! :j:j:j

    Morning All

Taplady - what a terrible shock, take care of your DF and yourself.

Not caught up with yesterday's thread yet so hugs to those in need. Tuesday morning started off ok when I got up and then we had a power cut with the high winds, etc. After 4 hours I decided to abandon the house (was heading south anyway), turned everything off and left. It was a horrendous journey, all the bridges we had to cross were closed, the wind followed us south and part of the M74 was shut too. It took us 7 1/2 hours to do a 4 hour journey! Thank goodness DD was with me or I may have gone mad.

Stayed at my Aunts on Tuesday, caught up with other family too but her smoke alarm started beeping about 4 in the morning and I couldn't get the battery out so not much sleep. Had a good morning shopping at Cheshire Oaks where we spent far too much money and then left for Halifax to stay with a friend. Friend lives on top of a hill near Saddleworth Moor so you can imagine what the weather is like - no sleep again!

DD taken the car and gone to Sheffield today to see Grandparents and I am left with friends MIL who is lovely but a bit deaf! Too far to walk to any shops in this weather so will take her dogs for a walk later and just chill.

Hope you are all safe and your houses are all in one piece (not sure what happened to mine, will find out tomorrow night!). Take care. XX

Morning everyone, feeling rotten but have the day off work to do assignments. My german housemate is back and being extra annoying, she is one of lifes busy bodies who believes she is the centre of the universe and cannot comprehend things being done any way other than hers. I know it is mean and ranty but she's stupid and it worries me that in the future she may have an effect on the health of children(studying to be a child nutritionist). She has had what sounds like a horrific chest infection for over a month but refuses to see a doctor, instead she has got an African herbal remedy from a witch doctor which even in her own words isn't working. I doubt her very limited veggie diet is helping her recovery either, if we all get the same cold it takes her much longer to get rid of it. If anything she's getting worse and I'm wondering how long it will be before her breathlessness gets so bad she needs an ambulance.
Well anyway this morning I wake up and she has put everyones kitchen items they don't keep in cupboards(she has twice as much cupboard space "because i'm a vegetarian" and also refuses to share her airer even though there is not enough space for one each so the rest of us share and she has the largest room by miles so could dry in their) into someones dirty baking tray. I'm furious as this means my jar of coffee and onions have been sitting in some old grease and fairy liquid mixture  I have completely lost it at her in the past and it has worked for a week where she is terrified of me and goes all "victim" but nothing seems to sink in. How do you deal with people that will not compromise but you can't ignore because they're always meddling?!?!

Right, some good news! OH has found a new flat and paid the deposit, it's really nice and in a great area. Aaaand I may move in sooner than originally planned as despite being 30 miles away the commute to uni would actually be really simple! I need to find a new job up there before I can even think about moving though
Phew! Going to read the boards with a cuppa and try to calm down.
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:

    Hi everyone,

I hope you all had happy christmases and good new years, I've not been able to keep up with the threads much.

After being very old style over Christmas, with virtually every item of food home made I have now reverted to laziness. I went to M & S yeaterday and bought their fuller longer meals for the rest of the week. Actually they were a bargain, 2 for £6 offer, I had two vouchers for £5 off a £20 spend plus 20% staff discount as DH works for them. I bought £43 of food for £26 and each of the meals came in under £2. They're very tasty as well.

We're going away again this w/e. DS has now got holiday which he couldn't take at Christmas so he wants to go up to see my dad. We'll come back next wednesday.

I know i don't often post now but I try to keep up with what's happening and I think about those who are going through hard times. Special thoughts for Loulou, Lame wolf and Taplady. Also Jackie G who I haven't seen podting for a while (altough it might be that I've just missed her). I hope the baby comes soon JulieG.
  • Tappers - how horrible, hugs to you and your friend

Adelight - don't get me started on inconsiderate flatmates!! Mine has packed up all her stuff as she is only home 2 nights now before we move out on 14th, but she has packed away stuff we share like airers/toaster/kitchen stuff . I put my stuff in storage when we moved here so we didn't have duplicates so she knows I don't have these things. She didn't even ask if it was ok! And I cleaned the kitchen on Saturday, as she had left it in a mess and it was bugging me, and when I came home the next day it was messy again and she had bu88ered off to Cardiff again! I can't wait to be on my own again! She is normally ok though, think she is unintentionally being ignorant at the moment.

Bramble - are you off to Scotland today? hope it all goes well, will be thinking of you x

I'm sneakily doing uni work in work for half hour ;)

thanks for thinking of my friend - she's a wonderful friend and would be the first to offer anyone else support so I'll be there for her.

Even though I didn't know her nephew I still shed a tear - having a child of a similar age you cant help but think that it could happen to any of us.

He was autistic and his father gave up work to home tutor him - so they were incredibly close.:(

This afternoon its menu planning time - got a few books to look at.
I like simple food - no meat although the males here do eat it - nothing too spicy either plus I cant eat pulses or lentils due to IBS so I've got my work cut out!:D

JulieG - good luck with Roo x x

off to sort DHs lunch now - back later x

Tappers OMG how absolutely dreadful! It just goes to show, you just don't know when the Henchman's going to come to fetch you.:(

Topsyturphy best wishes for your Stepdad; hope his treatment all goes well.

Roo come on, sweetie, show yourself; we don't bite, not even me, despite the name.:o

Thanks everyone who expressed concern for me yesterday - truth is I'm struggling big time with BD - I think the transition from one anti-d to another has me all unsettled; last night, Mr LW suggested going to the pub, and I just burst into tears!:( Also, I'm still suffering agonies with my shoulder - even Oramorph doesn't completely alleviate the pain, and I feel very resentful that if the rheumy had left well-enough alone, I wouldn't need to be going through this.

Anyways, I don't want to drag the thread down, so may keep my posts short and sweet till I have some sort of equilibrium back. Thanks for caring.:A
