i am an existing customer and was paying £90 for the old telewest package and they have just swapped me onto the VIP package(with more stuff) for the £85 deal. just phoned didnt have to threaten them with leaving they just gave me the deal, no probs.

Could it be because you are now locked in for a further 12 months?

No you need top upgrade, I got the same leaflet and phoned them before launch date, they told me they where choning packages on launch date and if you are on the "old" bundles you will not have unlimited broad band,(on mine any way, Bundle 3 £9.99 a month),

Details from "my account" on line:-
    Your email address: ********@virgin.net

    Your current package:
    Broadband Bundle Three

    Price: £9.99

Billing date: 30th of the month

    Password:**********

These packages are no longer available, my dowlnoad speed is 1mb, and my download is 3 gb

I was an existing Virgin.net customer on Plan Two (i.e. the £17.99/month no contract 8mbps ADSL plan) and they gave me unlimited downloads without needing to call. I just logged into my account and it shows that I have unlimited downloads (if you go to change plans, it shows your plan greyed out with unlimited).

So, maybe because you were on a bundle previously, you had to upgrade, but for people on a no-contract plan, you don't have to change anything?

At least for me, I did not have to change anything and am now getting unlimited downloads according to my account page.

Now if only Virgin Media wouldn't slow to a halt during peak times, it'd be perfect!!! It's such a hassle to change providers though, that I think I'm going to hang in there through the slow peak times and enjoy the off-peak speeds and unlimited downloads.

Mine was the £17.99 per month, which then reduced to £14.99 per month,(plan 2?), no contract, just pay monthly, I then upgrade to the bundle three they introduced just before the change to VM, @ £9.99 per month,(my reply #46), shows my bundle details, as does your quote in reply #63.

If I go to "change", this is what I get :-

Your current package is: Virgin Broadband Bundle Three

So to get unlimited, I need to upgrade to a new package,(and pay more than £9.99), existing bundles like mine do not get unlimited broad band.

You don't get any options under Just Broadband? That's the plan I had (Plan Two) and still have. Maybe they're screwing over the people who are in a contract because they know they aren't obligated to increase your speeds. I'd just risk it and pretend like you have unlimited. Even if you go over, they only warn you at first.

I'm not really bothered about the downloads, as I don't go anywhere near the limit, just wanted the lower price, and with the free phone calls eve,& w/e. I am quite happy at the moment. Having just turned on my computer, my speed is showing as 2.2mb ?? up from 1.1mb yesterday ?? no idea how/why that happened.

  • Hi
I am an existing telewest customer and I was paying 55.00 pounds for Xl TV, L Boradband and evening and weekend calls. I rang them yesterday and told them sky had rung and offered me tv/broadband and phone even/w/ends for 26pounds (still would have needed BT phone rental at 11 pounds). Without argument they dropped my price down to 34.99 with unlimited calls. Thats at least a 20.50 per month saving.

Worth a try for anyone! (please bear in mind I was on hold for 46 mins before I got to speak to someone - so get the coffee and papers ready!)

They need to train their staff, i have had to call them 12 times in the past 4 days. They don't have a clue about half of the packages, and you have to call the virgin mobile 0845 number to set up the mobile phone part of the VIP complete (which apparently doesn't exist). i was passed from once person to the next.
i had been a telewest customer for 4&1/2 years and had to phone them less!
