WOW! Compared to what, where ...? And there's me thinking that £50.99 for tv, broadband, talk anytime, and line rental was a bit high!

Have you noticed the sneaky way that they are advertising the broadband as Medium, Large, and Extra-Large (did they recruit their advertising staff from McD's). I wonder how many people will sign up for Medium broadband mistakenly assuming that they are getting the 4MB service.

I mean, if you were to goto Virgin Media and order:

    1 V+ box (the Sky+ HD equivalent)
    1 Standard extra box
The "XL" TV package (basically everything)
    The movie channels
    The sports channels
    10Mb broadband
Talk unlimited (unlimited landline calls anytime)
    Talk mobile (discounted mobile calls)
    Talk international (discounted international calls)

Then it would cost £37 more than the £85 discounted price.

Sure, you could get TV, broadband and talk unlimited for much less, but you wouldn't get the other call plans, the faster broadband, the movies, the sports, the hard-disk recorder box and the second set-top box.

If you want these things it's a good deal. I think I'm going to go for it. It's about £20 more than I pay now, but I get a lot more for it (movies, sports, calls, faster BB). Plus I can drop our mobile talk plans down to recover some of the cost, and DD can stay on the phone to her friends for as long as she likes.
  • £85 per month is absolutely horrendous - I wouldn't shell out that much even if I won the lottery.

When my previous bill was £84 and that was without Movies and sports and only free calls in the evenings, also only 4mb broadband, i now pay £85 all in and have movies and sports and all the things mentioned above
  • £53.50 for Sky and Sky+ and all the Channells

£22.99 for BT Broadband 8mb with unlimited usage

£20.70 for Phone calls antime anywhere also add on

£2.50 for International and Mobile reduction so that makes the same package as Virgin Media

    £99.69

Also you have to buy a Sky+ box for £99 and the calls to USA are 2p on Virgin and 3p on BT

so thats a saving of £14.69 a month which = £176 per year

You also get free HD content on The TVDrive as that box is HD READY.

Virgin Media have an option for catch up tv which sky doesnt have, so anything you have missed over the past 1 week you can press the red button and watch again

Plus cable broadband is FAR superior to ADSL and not dependant on distance from exchange.

I ordered the £85 vip pack a couple of days back
this is what I have at mo:
    4mg Broadband
    phone with weekends evening free
all packs + movies and sports
was paying £73.49 + extra phone calls ontop so total per month was about £83 ish.

    now I'm gonna get:
    Talk unlimited(24 hour)
    Talk International(cheap international calls)
    Talk mobile(cheap mobile calls)
    Broadband 10mg
Tv all packs(Xl/supreme/family or whatever they are calling it this week, lol)
    Movies and Sports
    V+ HD Box(TV drive)
+ my other box put in another room.

    all this for £85.

What they did say though was the tv guide thing is running slow(nothing unusual there then, well mines always a pain in the butt),

And that the broadband and tv will be billed seperately(the broadband does not go through the TV box anymore, they will be installing a modem thing)so 2 installers will be coming but thankfully it will be on the same day(not always possible)
Sooooo does anyone know if there will be much of a difference on the broadband when it goes through the modem thing than when it goes through the set top box.
