Why haven't you told them the debtors no longer live there?

If it was the case that you tried to and they ignored it then fair play, have fun. But it's not and I resort to my previous post and think your acting like a complete idiot.

Ask them to produce the liability order, the vast majority turn out to be fakes !

You seem to miss the point.

It is an important part of the bailiff's job to ensure that the are dealing with the person against whom their documentation is directed.

They have clearly failed completely in this aspect of their duties and are therefore fair game.

Imagine that they had started this process whilst someone - not the subject of the order/warrant - was on holiday and had removed their property in their absence? I suppose you would be perfectly happy with that.

Wasting their time in an attempt to demonstrate to them the importance of fulfilling all parts of their duties is a laudable occupation and the OP is to be commended.

Not that I'd expect any know RWA's to understand that.

Always amazes me when they should be able to easily check. If i recall correctly, the debt the OP is being chased for is from the council, surely the council should be able to see that the person that owes them doesn't live there!

I've had a bill for previous occupants 4 years after they moved out - from the same company that were supplying me.
I've also had demands for payment (relating to unpaid council tax) for addresses which are not my own and which i have no connection to.

If the tenant hasn't notified the council that they no longer live there then not necessarily. Many people have a second home for which they will pay CT (or in this case, not pay CT for).

How long have you lived at your address op?

That does not excuse the bailiffs from their duty to ensure they are dealing with the person with whom they are supposed to be dealing.

They have failed in a very important part of their duties and the OP is, quite reasonably, having a bit of fun at their expense.

It is quite unreasonable (except to RWA's) for companies to expect random members of the public to do their jobs for them.
