You will have to tread exceedingly carefully from here on in.

Clearly this case is of such great importance it was decided not to use a mere bailiff, but assign a bailiff in charge! Due to your escalation, you are now dealing with the bailiff manager! The power struggle at the office must be quite incredible, when the bailiff (who don't forget, is in charge) has to report to the bailiff manager. Looking more closely at the letter, I've realised that (in the absence of any other name) bailiff manager is actually not the job title, but the full name of Mr B Manager.

If they know who the debt belongs to; why have they started the letter "Dear Sir/Madam"?? And not just "Dear Mr Smith" ie the person that owes the money....

Ive kinda been ringing him up asking if he wants to go for a drink, then my boyfriend has been ringing him up as a bailiff asking about unpaid council tax warrents, he isn't happy with me or my boyfriend
  • I haven't seen the history on those bailiffs, but is shocking they can actually take items of yours and you are not even the person they are chasing. Crazy....

Looking forward to your next update!

In reality, they can't. That doesn't mean they won't however.

Sorry for the lack of updates - work has got in the way of my fun the last few days!

I haven't specifically said I'm not the person they are looking for, because they haven't actually asked yet. I also haven't said that I am; it is just a dangerous assumption on their part based on the fact I haven't jumped up and down and offered to send in all documentation required to steal my identity!

I have nothing to lose in this little game of cat and poison mouse except my car, which is currently recently broken down on the drive anyway and to be completely honest, they'd be doing me a favour removing it ;) Our house is fitted with a central station alarm that won't even arm if any door or window is insecure (and it's quite vocal about it when it happens), so I have absolutely no concerns about them gaining entry to our premises via peaceable means while we are not here.

In response to the latest escalation in their carbon footprint, I have sent the following by email:
"Thank you for taking the time to reply to my previous message by postal mail. One copy would have been sufficient; there was really no need to print it twice. One has to think of the environment these days, added postage costs and so forth!

I apologise that you experienced problems replying by email (the environmentally friendly method of communication after all). There is no reason for this other than someone with poor eyesight or typing skills on your end, as this email address receives upwards of 30 emails a day from various sources and continues to do so now.

Mr Morley listed "x2 warrants" on the BAILIFF REMOVAL form, having adjusted my understanding to accommodate his poor handwriting. Distress Warrants would be for unpaid court fines, rather than - as you have correctly stated - Liability Orders. One wonders if it is an attempt by Rossendales and/or Mr Morely to increase profit? You are of course hopefully aware of the limitation on the execution of Liability Orders in respect of unpaid Council Tax is set at £24.50, whereas a distress warrant is £275.00. Naughty naughty!

On a related note, I implore you to make your letters more readable. On one line you state "[...] cheques will not be accepted." and yet at the footer it clearly shows various card schemes and then "inc. Cheques & Postal Orders". Terribly discombobulating, would you not agree?

Now, if I may be so bold as to suggest we save all of us some time and effort here, and you simply return this case as uncollected to the council and let them blunder around for another 18 months while they decide what to do next. I should think from my previous musings that it must be patently clear you won't be collecting on this account.

    Round 3! Ding ding! :A

Or possibly - he loves his job so much that he changed his name by deed poll? Maybe you could ask that Lee?
I need to think of something new here...

Can you imagine the introduction to his/her future in-laws if that's the case?

    "The name's Manager. Bailiff, Manager."

...or, since the letter is scanned into the opening post, maybe that's where they're been perusing it?!
