Oh Victory that SA doesn't sound very friendly. Even though you are buying discounted food you still should be served with courtesy - they want somebody to buy it afterall. But good for you for being thick skinned about. I work in a shop and we have a permenant reduced to clear box of old stock that we just want to shift. We have regulars that come in every week to have a rummage and I am just as friendly with these people as those that are buying £60 scarves because at the end of the day we want to sell stuff, even at a heavily reduced price for cash flow purposes and to reduce waste. Its good for business.

The staff at my Morrisons are so lovely, though I'm getting a reputation as a cheapskate now as I keep getting looks from this guy whose always stacking shelves at the chiller. (Or it could be my good looks - he's only human afterall :p).

Re meat - I have had hardly any raw meat bargains from Morrisons, occassionally sausages but its rare. Last night I got two big pork joints for 3.99 (from £15):j. The lady at the checkout's eyes were on stalks when she saw it and had to double check. I wonder if I just got lucky, but I went a little later (around 7.45). So might try that again, but going so late meant the chiller was empty, so I may try staggering my times each night so I get a nice selection for the week. I need a chart for the fridge door :D.
  • Morning everyone,

Well done Jennyhuggies on the bacon-i would have grabbed loads too. I only saw it for the 1st time on tuesday at 42p instead of £1.70 off the deli/meat counter but gave it my mum as i bulk buy it from Costco. Looks like everyone is doing pretty well. I didn't go last night as hubby was working away again as will be all next week, so me and my mum will each go a different night and she will come to sit at mine with the kids whilst i go-although my 5 year old son loves coming and says 'it is doesn't have a yellow sticker we are not buying it'. Best to sgtart them young i suppose?!

Victory-there is 1 at my local Mr T's who is like that, the others are really nice and we always have a nice chat whilst i am there. Well done on your bargains-the only things i don't buy for myself on yellow sticker is chicken as the past few times i've bought it we have had ot bin it as it's been smwlling when i open in, should i give it another go as i will be missing out quite a bit as there always seems to be some available but i leave it and buy it from our local halal shop as it's half the price of anywhere else and tastes lovely too.

I managed to get some yellow sticker cornflakes earlier in the week-had about 30p off a huge 750g box, i know it isn't a great deal but it put the box under £1 and i figured only the box was actually bashed they would be fine inside and they are. I have now sussed out where the grocery/dried items are reduced and always check that out too-got some lovely disney cars mugs filled with sweets for 39p each last week which will be great as my son has a triple birthday party to go to in Feb (along with some 75% off toys i grabbed in Boots yesterday.)

Anyhoo enough waffling from me-will be popping to Mr T shortly as i managed to smash my coffee jar and it is currently in a plastic tub....great excuse to check out whats on offer, for some weird reason some things have been heavily reduced in the morning-i managed to get a load of finest pastry for 15p a couple of weeks ago first thing in the morning and have come across some fruit heabvily reduced early too so fingers crossed. Oh and i bagged 2 £10 bouqets of flowers for just 10p each....gave one to my mum who was very impressed and the other is looking lovely in my lounge Happy yellow stickering everyone.xx

One of my local morrisons (near work) reduce meat to half price about 4.30/5, the other hardly at all....so wonder if its a managers decision.

  • Hi all, I did rounds of all my local supermarkets last night, starting with Morrisons at around 7pm. Was very disappointed and found absolutely nothing there. Went to Tesco where we picked up some Pain au Chocolat at 34p but didn't find much in the way of anything chilled. My biggest and best result was Sainsbury at around 7.30. It's the first time I've been there for yellow stickers and was very impressed. Lots of reduced meats so I got pork chops for £1, rib eye steak for £1, duck breasts for £1.30, shepherds pie for 30p, steak and ale pie for 49p, covent garden soup for 29p and cooked ham for 19p.

It's a fantastic way to shop and I really wish I'd found this out a couple of years ago. I used to spend over £80 a week for 2 adults and 2 teens but now, I've cut that down enormously!

    Happy shopping all x

Chicken is often a bit smelly when you get it out of the wrapping - a good wash in running cold water and the smell is gone. Not poisoned us yet!

  • Mr s again today at 2.30 pm. Obviously only first reductions but lots of bits available - no meat though. Managed to get:

6 large hot dog rolls 60p reduced from 90p
2.5kg White potatoes 59p reduced from £1 something

Also stocked up on colgate max fresh which is on offer at 90p for 100ml instead of £2.

If I buy any reduced item like quiche, cake, pies, cheesecake I sometimes cut it into portions eg 2 portion sizes so that we do not get fed up eating it. If a cake has not frozen very well then it turns into a pudding with custard.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)
  • Morning,

Popped into Mr S last night and seemed to have times it just right. They didn't have masses but i did get

    From the meat counter-
Large pork lion joint £2 (i have cut it into steak and it'll do the 4 of us 2 meals-i am very impressed by the quality and the date is use by 21st which is great considering i bought it last night)
    Lamb neck fillet 74p
Scottish braising steak £1 (have split into 2 meals for the 4 of us)

    From the chiller i got-

    Pepperoni pizza 59p
2 x Spag bol 19p each (ideal for quick liunch for the kids)

and a triple pack of doughnuts for 30p

I also got a Generator Rex toy for my son-shelf said £2.09 instead of £16.99 but it scanned at £5.09, so the girl put it through manually and it took 70% off the £2.09 so ended up costing me just 62p!! One very happy son and a very happy mummy (kind of wish i had bough more to put away for birthday etc but think i would have pushed my luck as she said she couldn't be bothered correcting it.)

    Happy hunting everyone.xx

Yes I always do this - even with bread I estimate how much we need for a day. I buy pizzas for my daughter so I need to make sure they are in portions. The problem is I am always running out of freezer bags so I have bought some cheap plastic boxes from poundland and have started saving bags that fruit or bread come in. Margerine containers are now being saved from the recycling too. I use masking tape and a sharpie pen to label everything up with dates etc.

Rubbish shopping trip last night - remind me not to go on a Thursday.

Olliesmum - so jealous of your bargains. Well done.
