yes we've been to pontins before and I am still mulling it over
we go everywhere and our budget is tight, so I'll be checking sites for reduced tickets, discounts etc in the area we go to
I did La croix de vieux pont twice which was nice .. I'll just paste here now what I wrote on another site to answer someone else
we have been here twice , good mix of people german, dutch, spanish
we use the sun holidays booking it totalled approx £60 , the ferry cost £40 approx as I booked asap
we used a map search and travelled the back roads not using any tolls
the petrol we filled up 4 times - its a small car that takes approx £35

its a good distance from disney so be warned leave early
I did sandwiches etc the night before ... we got up washed dressed thrown into the car and off asap
ate fruit and sandwiches for brekkie on our way and got there in good time ... its about an hours drive
take a change of clothes ... food is expensive in disney and dont forget the car park charge !
I bought tickets from france via search and the disney tickets were £29 each

its also close to chateu pierrefonds ( they shoot merlin there) but the pool at the camp is fun
kids will spend all day there and its covered so great in bad weather
the local cora supermarket is in soissons a 10 min drive

there is no TV in the caravans !!! we took 2 laptops with dvds for the kids ,nintendo ds
    and coloring books

there is no night time entertainment like the british camps .. there is the bar, few machines ... occasionally a kids disco but err thats it ...
but we made friends easily and we really enjoyed ourselves, took a dvd or 2 for us and the bar sells
daily internet access for 5 euros, so you can go online at the bar area
so I'd been checking emails on my laptop & the little one with her new friends round her would watch scooby doo on the other !
this is all info I wished I had been told before I came the first time
take one of those mini fans, cos if its hot like it was one year we went 30d+ it makes a difference.

both times I got my codes and checked the internet for when the last code word was broken by die hard sun holiday fans usually the day before its issued and managed to book dates for july when school had just finished - about the 19th

anyone been to domaine de drancourt or assisses in picardy pls ?opinions

  • I just wonder how many holidays will actually be available after the Daily Mail promotion? There's have \ll been bookable for last few days by anyone and it's all the same parks nearly as sun promotion!

I was previously registered but lost my log in so I generaly just nose around the forums.
And as I dont usually have anything constructive to say I haven't felt the need to re-register..

    Hi Art

I'm one of those people that asked for information about sites, (Hoburne Park, Hoburne Bashley and Shorefield Country Park). But that's not because I can't be ***** to search for myself, because I do loads of research on lots of sites before I make my final choice. I just think it's helpful to get other Sun Holidaymaker's opinions, particularly when you are travelling with babies and young children.

Because of the information and advice people have given about their holidays, I'm even toying with the idea of trying a French holiday next time. (I'm just not sure I'm brave enough to drive abroad with the kids yet). Thanks to everybody who has given info on La Croix de Vieux Pont. And a massive thanks to Lil Lady for updating the code words every day!!! :):)

    Hi bubbles

My rant was not aimed at you, sorry if you thought that.

I agree with you that asking questions and swapping info about sites is exactly what this forumis about so that we dont waste money on terrible sites. It is useful to chat on here about other sun holiday experiences. Again sorry for any misunderstanding.

Thanks to all for posting codes here.I will also play my part with cracking code and contribute.

I booked my first Sun Holiday last year after being inspired by a similar thread. We had a great time in Isle of Wight in April.

This year we want to try out France but keen on parc sites with easy access to Paris as would be travelling with Eurostar and although a car will be great. I just can't drive in a foreign country just got my license. Need more driving experience.

I will be sticking to the Paris sites La Croix de Vieuz Point or Le Chene Gris.
Le Chene Gris is a lot easier to get to but La Croix de Vieuz seem to have more facilities for a 7 day trip. Although will need to factor in a taxi fare from the closet station to the campsite. Anyone know of taxi companies or if these are easily accessible on arrival. I should have paid more attention in french class not sure I learnt anything.

I found the Daily mail travel review article helpful. Sorry unable to post link. "Posh camping in Picardy: French charm and fairytale castles are just a short hop away" by Andrea Pullen (Article gives information about travelling to La Croix de Vieuz Point from Paris worth reading)

gosh bubbles thanks .. I've asked about holiday sites myself and do heaps of research for cheap everything
its nice to chat and I put info myself down about the french sites which I wish I'd know before going myself
but when someone asks about a basic question that's already been answered several times its obvious they haven't read the basic faq and are asking for clarification ... thats a tad annoying

Yes I can understand that because I know a lot of questions get asked over and over again when the information is on the booking form or on previous posts!!!

It was your post (no.18) that made me think seriously about France. The detail was brilliant and really useful e.g. take into account the cost of the car park at Disneyland Paris, cost of internet access, bring mini fans, bring laptop and dvds for the kids, etc. But what really made me giggle was that you even said what you gave the family for breakfast on your car journey to Disneyland. You've literally planned a full trip for somebody...even down to what to give their kids for breakfast. Brilliant!!! :A

Can anyone help, I am looking to book a holiday through the Daily Mail and checked direct with Haven to see if it is cheaper. Direct with Haven is £109 - via Daily Mail is £74 - but it does not say with the Daily Mail if you have to pay a service charge, entertainment passes and gas and electric separate. It is included when booking with Haven but wondered if it is the same via Daily Mail.

The holiday will be at Haven Burnham on Sea if anyone has any feedback.

    Thanks

Hi! I live in Exmouth (Devon Cliffs) - so if you want to know anything about the area I can let you know some good things to do! It is quite a nice holiday park right on the beach with a good pool and a spa. There is a lot to do in the area too.

Thanks, its on my short list! It does look lovely, wish I lived there! xxx
