Have you read my post #22 above?
Also, when you receive your receipt slip through the post, you'll see that they have credited your account on the day they received the A&L cheque. This is the date you will start to receive interest from.
Thanks I have had my paperwork from YBS today and it does say the interest is backdated to 16th february. They also answered my e mail saying the same, so I am quite happy with them and their customer service responses.0 -
Got my final letter from YBS today saying that they've received my deposit. Halifax sent it to them on the 15th and they received it on the 19th, so I lost a bit more as there was a weekend inbetween.
Happy to have moved my money though! All went very smoothly and fairly quickly!

Now up to 25 days since posting my e-ISA application!
Its either:
a) lost in the post
b) lost in the deluge of applications that YBS is struggling to process
From reading previous MSE'rs posts, I am inclined to believe b).
If I get to 42 days they "close" the account anyway. Glad I haven't got my cheque from A&L sitting on their desk until they decide to process my application (despite what has been said about interest being backdated).0 -

I posted my form last Friday, and they closed my account yesterday.
I expect to see the transfer in showing at YBS by the end of the week.
Thanks YB just what I wanted to know for my Halifax-YBS transfer. Your later posts cleared up other matters for me as well.
Will post my form this weekend.
I love this site.

I haven’t transferred an ISA before but I'm thinking of going along the Halifax to YBS route too. There's just one question: will the interest I've earned so far this tax year in the Halifax ISA (i.e. interest earned after 6 April 2007 to date) be added to the balance before it gets transferred? Or will this interest be passed to YBS and then paid on the 31st March 2008 along with the YBS interest? Or do I just forfeit the Halifax interest because I switched providers?
Thanks for your help in advance!0 -
The interest will be added to the closing balance of the Halifax ISA.0

what i don't get is why you guys had to contact your existing isa provider (halifax) yourself, -= why didn't Yorkshire do it on your behalf??0
-
I've only ever made 3 transfers so far, but I've always been given transfer froms designed to be sent directly to the old provider (or was forced to contact them by phone in the case of A&L). Why fill out a form and send it to your new provider, only for it to be redirected to the old one?0
-
yes I understand that, but you are doing work that they should do for you
I have dealt with transfers in at halifax - we do the forms in and send them to the existing provider to transfer in using the switching service. customer not go to do a thing, apart from sign original application form and isa transf-er in forms0 -
I don't really see the difference between completing a form and sending it to your new provider vs. completing a form and sending it to your old provider, except that the first option is slower, because the new provider is acting as a middleman. What you're saying makes sense for a branch based account, but not an internet / postal one.0
