Thanks Taxi - Hopefully I can stick to the plan this month! Really lovely to have you back. I will pop over in a second to hear about your week away!

I've just totted up my spending. It was really bad!!! THere are so many lunches, snacks and coffees listed. I really need to address this. I will have to add further pledges:
    - No lunches unless there is a lunch meeting planned at work
    - No snacks - these will have to be taken from home
    - Only 1 coffee per week.

Not much achieved off the weekend list. I've caught up on some missed TV and chilled out.

We'll be heading out soon (early dinner) so looking forward to that.

    Hope you are all okay

    Thanks GA!

Luckily the cold has gone and it sounded worse than it was! Although a bit of sympathy from everyone at work was great!

Talking of cold - its bloomimg freezing here in the shires of London. Thankfully some wine at a colleague's leaving meal has kept the edge off! Felt really guilty as they split the bill equally and there were some only had one main while others had three - me included! Offered to give my change to the others but they wouldn't accept.

Well money news - yesterday was my first NSD and am hoping tomorrow will be no 2. All the direct debits -well the main ones, will be coming out tomorrow. The rest of the week's meals have been planned so hopefully my plan to stick to a budget will work.

I'm also due a payout from Quidco at the next so will move that to MY savings for something fun for me! Also need to check they the rent has come through.

    Not much else to report.

Hope you are all keeping warm.

Brrrrrr - its cold out there. Although it didn't feel as cold as this morning!

Thankfully the alcohol was okay - I did have my typical reaction which was broken sleep but I didn't find it too difficult to get through the day. In fact, I didn't leave work until after 7 this evening!

Stayed in my warm office all day and had my packed lunch and snacks! I was offered a 'proper' cofffee this morning but I didn't want it so I achieved my second NSD of the month (sounds silly for the first of the month!).

Not much else to report - the major DDs have all come out and I have updated my signature to reflect the changes:
    Mortgage £730 to £1461
    Home improvement £650

Hope you have had a good first of the month!

Had a rather busy and successful day today!

I was up at silly o'clock this morning and after surfing the net on my phone for a while I got up and on with my day.

I managed to get quite a few things done and even got to the bottom of the ironing pile:j:j. My list of completed things inlcudes:
    • ironing
    • washing
    • bathroom
    • supermarket shopping
    • face mask
I also joined WW online yesterday. I need to re-get my head round things and REALLY need to start geting some movement into my life. I am very quick to find excuses for not doing exercise but I am conscious that i am only damaging myself.

I didn't really do anything to support my 'hobby' plan so I am going to go back to knitting squares - I'd llike to turn it into a baby blanket at some point.

I started today and my back is in agony - even more than usual. I am going to have to lie down on the floor to watch the rest of the movie we're watching! Don't think I'll be able to knit lying down!

It started snowing this evening. Thankfully we have some supplies in case we get snowed in - I know I live in London but I hate snow so will find any excuse!!!!

Hope you are all safe and warm!

  • Good work on getting some of your tasks done ... I have to hang my head as I've not been so good at this recently.

Well done on the WW joining, I've heard it's a good support.

    No snow here..... just rain

Sorry you got a hurty back, hope it eases up soon. :A

    Hi Taxi and GA,

Back is still sore - made worse by a visit from my monthly friend! am dosed up on ibuprofen so it has taken the edge off!

It's a winter wonderland here - probably only about three inches but we are probably going to stay indoors. I'm in a bit of a creative mood so will see what I can do while not huring my back. I may also do some baking but no sure I've got the right flour in the cupboard and I refuse to leave the house as am trying for a NSD!

Not much else to report. Hope you are all keeping warm and safe.

    Evening!

Well yesterday was NSD 3!!! Not doing too badly so far. I had hoped today would be #4 but I woke up late so didn't organise my lunch.

I think I will make Wednesday and FRiday NSDs with lunches to work for the rest of the week. No other major purchases to make. The fridge and cupboards are well stocked for the rest of the week and may even last into next week with a small top-up shop. I may even meet my grocery challenge of £120 for the month yet! Alot of basics have run out recently - washing tablets, pasta, rice etc - so we have had to restock so I may need to go over a little.

I have taken out £40 for the week from my 'spends' budget - I really want to spend £30 max. I am out for dinner with the girls tomorrow but will try to keep it under control!!!

Other money news - the monthly saver DD has been taken out so there is very little left in the current account. Mostly for the DDs and a little bit extra. I really do hope I can manage the budget this month as this is the battle I always lose! I will be taking some money out for our staycation but that has been put aside towards a holiday for months.

I have just had a bit of a lazy evening. I've treated myself to a bit of nail care - my nails are awful so I will aim to put on some nail hardner at least three nights this week in an attempt to make the better.

A few things to do this evening:
    - hang up washing
    - make lunch for tomorrow
    - check the light bulbs that look like they have come loose
    - read a bit of my book
    - check when buildings and contents insurance is due.

    Better get moving!

Hope you are all okay in diaryland.

  • Hear what you're saying on the monthly friend visit :o

Well done though on the NSD's this week ... I dont ever seem to manage one ... more because I'm not organising myself well enough atm .. so if it's not petrol ... it's food... or a bill ... et al et al et al

    It's not a lazy evening ... it's a pamper evening ... an investment in you're personal well being :rotfl::rotfl:
