What's happening to ryainair ??

I'm booked to go to Reus airport with Ryan Air, a family of 5 cost us £527! (Return)
I booked on the day the flights came out and a family of four with Ryanair in August (9-23rd August 2012) came out at £350.
We have become savvy now and use a Ryanair card, don't take hold luggage and generally have our own sandwiches etc on the plane.
The flights we got were a mixture of "tax-free" flights and offer flights, but it is becoming harder and harder each year to get hold of these flights.

The only way Ryanair would reduce their charges between now and then would be if the recession really bit hard. They fly so much business to Palma that it is one of the easiest routes for them to adjust the capacity to demand - if they get too close to June with unsold seats they just cancel a few half empty flights and move those passengers already booked onto others of their earlier or later flights, topping those up instead. They never mind if they inconvenience passengers in the process.
If the £210 included hold bags and all charges and I was planning on going for a fortnight, I might be tempted to just take the cost on the chin and then forget it and rest easy in the knowledge I was booked and ready to enjoy a great couple of weeks. But then again this year I would probably shop around first.
All is perhaps not lost to moneysavers on that route - have you checked MAN>PMI on the MSE Flightchecker ?
It looks to me that there are still some cheaper flights (than yours) from various operators in June although I grant that many of them are apparently available from Ryanair or Jet2 but clearly those are no good for you. Depends on how fixed you are with dates of course. I notice Monarch and Thomson are in there ... any of those any good ?
Good luck!0 -

Unfortunately its the first week of June, half term week, that i am looking at so Ive not too much flexibility in dates.
Think ill give it till the end of Jan and see where we are but it looks like its going to be a more expensive trip whether its ryanair or jet2!
Don't know where you are geographically but we have found flying from Scottish airports during English half term is a lot cheaper as the schools in Scotland take their holidays at a different time. We have saved close to £500 for a family of 4 by flying from Edinburgh rather than Newcastle. Of course you would have to factor in transport costs and possibly hotel stay but with cheap rail fares if booked in advance and travelodge sale with rooms at £19 then the savings can still be dramatic. I have done that the other way round, travelled to Manachester from Glasgow for our summer holidays as the schools finish earlier here than in England.0

I suppose we paid roughly the same then as we have 5 hold bags and 5 seats...0 -

I have a place in alicante and visit 5/6 times a year but I'm proper struggling to book any cheep flights ! I normally fligh ryainair but the prices are twise as high as last year !! I don't get it ! Looking to go 23-28 feb and 3-8 may but not at them prices :-(
Anyone any idea why they so high !!
Ryanair has increased its fares by 17% on average. It says one reason it has been able to do this is because of higher fares charged by its competitors.
