Ryanair make a shed load of cash ...
Not from me ! Just booked summer holiday flights July/August. Out with Avios on BA for £13.50 per person and back with TAP for £57.50 per person - no faffing around with "extras". Inflight meal of some sort included, proper bag in the hold, no charge for Amex out or Visa Debit back ...
All I'm saying is the market is changing and Ryanair are adapting to it like any good business should ...
Evidence of that would be ... ? Certainly not my most recent booking :p
Passengers are becoming more savvy and dodging the extras (see the credit/debit card or increased baggage fees), ...
You got that bit right :rotfl:

Shop around this summer people. :money: Ryanair just ain't it anymore :p

Really? With a 20kg bag each? When ? Not July or August I bet? Edit: In fact I see you are travelling in May - have a good one - we like Barcelona a lot

I am travelling almost exactly the same distance as you and am feeling pretty pleased with my booking today at £70 odd quid each return peak summer period with 23kg bags and a drink and a sandwich inflight (as no doubt you are too if you have factored in the bags - £100 odd quid each return to Barcelona is still a good deal anytime the sun shines ;) )

Just had a look at Stansted-Reus for five people the days I am on holiday and the first price quoted (no bags and no card fees) was £1,146.15

I imagine 5 x 20kg bags each way would add £400 just for bags and then unless you have that Cash Passport thing then you'd have to pay 5 x 2 x £6 in card fees which is another £60 so a whopping £1,606

Edit: to be fair, I only just noticed you are in Cheshire and see from your other posts you are flying from Liverpool. I use London airports so get more choice I would think. The deal from Liverpool with a 20kg bag each and no Ryanair passport thingy for your lot on the dates I am flying is currently £940 !

I have to admit I'm finding the prices high this year, I'm looking to fly in the April school holidays, normally I can get flights for 4 for max 130 but its coming in four times more than that!

Admittedly I want to go to Malta which I realise will be more expensive but I'm checking the places we have been before such as Ibiza and Reus and they are still very expensive too.

I know I have been spoilt, Ryanair have been fantastic value in the past. I got flights in 2009 to Portugal in the summer holidays from Brum for 170 for 3 of us. I think those days are gone.:(

I hope they have a special deal on soon!:)
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

Prices for April will come down around mid to late Feb. Of course, not for all dates and to all destinations.

Comparing Avios with Ryanair is ludicrous. If I had enough Id use them instead of cash too.
Now Im sure BA etc can offer some deals to some places just as Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2, Monarch etc can too. Its like supermarket shopping. Each have their bargains and only a fool would stick with any one supplier blindly.

TBH, sub £200 RTN to Southern Europe in July/August is still incredible value.

What's actually ludicrous is that it is no longer ludicrous to compare Avios with Ryanair. I daresay if I had a Cash Passport thingy to get rid of then I might use that instead of cash too ... oh hang on a minute ... none of these outfits accept cash :p

So what are you on about, budgetflyer? Are you losing the plot like Ryanair? :rotfl:
TBH, sub £200 RTN to Southern Europe in July/August is still incredible value.
TBH, sub £75 RTN to Southern Europe in July/August is even more incredible value especially with 23kg in the hold, some sort of meal, 8kg PLUS a laptop in the cabin, no card fees :rotfl:

Avios is that the new name for airmiles? So you have to collect avios miles to get the flight at that price. Am I reading that correctly? How many Avios miles would get you that flight?

7,500 one way per person plus a £13.50 fee per person. I've given up thinking about whether that's good bad or indifferent since I've had the airmiles for yonks and never found a use for them before until I thought about it today. I must say I am feeling particularly chuffed with myself - almost as chuffed as when I got 3x return tickets to Carcassonne about 4 summers ago for under £200 at 3 weeks notice for July/August including a bag each - oh they were the days ! (Long gone it seems, unless Ryanair start getting desperate).

Have to say that the Avios website is more of a disaster site than Ryanair at the moment, but I finally tricked it into delivering one way if not the other, and then blow me whilst thinking about flying the flag I thought why not check out TAP for the way back and instantly stumbled over the £57.50 one way fares :p
