I keep old toothbrushes, not only to clean bikes and stuff, but to get any dog poo that a scrote has left behind, off any shoes that may tread in it.

Steel yourself, clean, then leave in the sun for a day.

  • No, I wouldn't want my kids to go through life like this. Sometimes, I remember the days when I was carefree and did not give much thought to it all and enjoyed the simple pleasures of sitting down on a step in a public place or park benches, inviting friends over and not thinking about where their shoes have been or if they have cleaned their hands. Those days were great. I have a great family - two beautiful children and feel blessed to have them. I don't feel happy subjecting them to a shower after a trip to the park or pretty much anywhere else. They are very young and have known no different life, so take it in their stride but my elder one will soon start spotting the oddness of it as she has started school now. So, I want to change and be able to live and enjoy my children's early years without causing them any discomfort. I want them to enjoy and live life to the full.

OH was in the toilets in supermarket, sees a bloke come in, have a wee then walks straight out without washing his hands. Goes straight to the cafe and picks up a tray and goes in the queue to buy food. No wonder there are so many bugs about. I feel I have to carry handwash gel to compensate for the dirty mingers who behave like this!

I'm sure most people wash their hands after going in the toilets..... don't they?

I'm a bit embarassed to admit this has been on my mind a bit lately.

I always wash my hands and I have that handwash gel on my desk at work. So I think my hygiene standards are pretty good.

My boyfriend moved in with me about 6 months ago and gee its been... enlightening. Amazing how men can be so well behaved when they are trying to impress and then once they think they have you standards slide....

Anyway I've noticed my boyfriend doesnt wash his hands when he uses the bathroom. Its not that he leaves the door open or I am watching (ew) but we have an ensuite and I can hear that the taps dont go on.

Its actually at the point where its a turn off. He goes to the bathroom then comes to bed and wants to get amorous and its not the nicest thought having his hands touch me.

    Am I being OTT?

Any tips on how to say something without embarassing him?

I meant the dog poop on the shoes, not dirt. I can cope with dirt and mud.

Life is very stressful as I have various rules about cleaning, which is obviously very difficult for the whole family as they need to abide by these otherwise I can not cope. You can not imagine the extent of the problem. I need help but not sure if the GP would understand either! I have learnt to live with my problems but I need to change for the sake of my children. I can not subject them to my issues and they are growing up fast.

Your GP will totally understand. My emetophobia is just one symptom of my General Anxiety Disorder, I've just finished six sessions of hypnotherapy to deal with it. I'm definitely not cured 100% but don't feel quite so anxious about everything.

I always told my kids that my issues with sick etc. weren't normal and they mustn't be frightened or bothered by it. They've all grown up (fairly) normal!

Yes and No. It's not nice to think he is failing with basic hygene like that, but in the instance of getting 'amorus', would'nt you end up touching the part of his anatomy which you were disgusted he hadn't washed his hands after handling?

And as for mentioning it without embarassing him - if you creep around it in a way it will make it worse for you and for him. I say go in the other direction, when he exits the bathroom bark at him 'Euurrrrgggh! Didn't you wash your hand's? You dirty pig, that's gross!' in an OTT semi jokey way. It will embarass him enough to think about and act on it while not making you seem like a prissy nag.

That could work. Or just say that you're not touching me until you wash your hands, if he wants you enough, he be running back to the on suite.

Well great that you're getting sorted out.

But  does this not explain rather alot about this thread?

  • This is a lovely topic for breafast time!!! :rotfl:Oh dear, well I am probably a bit OTT. I wash my hands everytime I go to the bathroom at home and when I am out, also when I put the bins out or before doing any food preparation. I also have anti-bac gel for emergencies!

On a work do once I saw one of my colleagues use the public toilets without washing and then return to the table and start tearing chunks off a tear and share garlic bread which was passed around the table - eeeeewwww!!

To the op with the boyfriend/hygiene issue. It's gross tbh. One of my exes was like that years ago...subtle hints didn't work so I was very blunt in the end.... we split up not long after!!

One thing I hate is people who have pets (particularly cats) and seem oblivious to the problems with hairs in food/on surfaces and with the pet crawling all over the table etc. Don't get me wrong I like animals and even have a cat but when we prepare food she is on on the floor, all surfaces are wiped down with antibac wipes and if we leave the room she does too.

Then again how boring would it be if we were all the same?:rotfl:
