I love Rammstein too, been to see them twice before but never outside cant wait. Never seen Iron Maiden so excited about this too. We cant really afford it either, but its booked now, or friend has booked it so we owe them the money so no backing out!!

Will definitely look into the feed situation. Unfortunately have limited grazing, looks better this morning after yesterdays rain but just practically dust at the moment!!

First time out today for the hoss with a rug on, she was a bit jittery this morning but settled down to the hay in the field so watch this space :)

  • Sounds like you're doing a fabulous job with hoss :) I'm trying to teach the new pony (who is 13 and should have been taught it a long time ago) to pick up his feet to have them picked out without snatching, leaning, planting, walking off or needing to chew on a fence post! We're almost there with the hind feet now - if you pick up the one he's resting there are no problems at all and he's mostly very good with them if he's standing square now too. The fronts are a different matter, it takes about five minutes to persuade him to even lift one. I know I can do it using the trick the farrier showed me (grab a handful of feather and push the back of his knee with my elbow whilst pulling up on the feather), but I'd rather Finn co-operated! We're taking it slowly and with a pocketful of apple and carrot flavoured treats he's gradually starting to associate hoof picks with rewards :)

Caz many thanks for your comments, its hard work and sometimes get really snotty comments from some of the other liveries, the joy of being on a yard, really want that lottery win then could train as I please  Get fed up sometimes its not as easy as it looks, everyone great to give advice but hey why dont you try and see if you can do any better, sorry rant over. I think doing pretty well and have to remember she is only 18months old and since I have had her she has improved tonnes, but it could be years yet before she is fully there.

The rug exercise has gone well so I can cross that one of the list. Similar to you still have problems with the hooves! Can get one front one easily, the other front one she just walks around and tries to nip me so have to hang on for dear life, getting there slowly. :)

Nothing exciting happening money wise, OH transferred £160 to joint a/c, so only £360 short, but should have enough over next 2 weeks. Got quite a bit of bunce in my current a/c so going to use this for groceries. Off shopping tonight but got a list and still got bit in freezer so hopefully not to big a spend. Ebay has few watchers on and still awaiting payment for weekend items, must chase up.

Posted a thread on a horsey forum I use regarding a problem with the hoss and the fact she wont walk through puddles and have had some real down to earth comments that I am doing the right thing and am not a bad horse owner, made me feel much better, tempted to print out and stick on snotty livery owners door if she annoys me again. The saying "those that live in glasshouses shouldnt throw stones" springs to mind. Anyhow moving on and upwards :D

  • Hi been lurking for a little while and thought I'd say hello

Sounds like you are doing a fab job with hoss - she really is a gorgeous girly. Please ignore the over liveries and don't let them get to you, livery yards can be nasty places sometimes. Enjoy your hoss and time you spend with her and don't let anyone spoil that for you.

Hello scattyskewbald  I agree with you BB is doing a great job. Young horses take time and the people that give 'advice' have rarely brought on a youngster themselves, they've taken on a 'ready made' horse.

I did some of the Captains early training with treats, fairly sure folk would say you shouldn't! When he lifted a foot he would get a pat and a slice of carrot. It worked. He lifts his feet as you go round without being asked. I can't believe that he'll be 27 next year  I've finally bought him a sack of veteran maintenance mix and he hoovered it up in record time, I think he likes it :rotfl:

Hello Scattyskewbald thanks for dropping in and your support and yours to Piq, it is hard work, never had a youngster before so a huge learning curve for me, and it is easy to take on a ready made horse. I dont give her many treats as she nips but a good scratch is a great reward for her :) 27 eek for the Captain fab age.

Moneywise went gorcery shopping yesterday, budget £150 bought loads of stuff for freezer and tins/loo roll etc to stock up and a jumper  trollet was absolutely packed. Total at till after rewards taken of and voucher from surveys, £139 :D This came out of my current a/c as found an outstanding bill to pay £180 to that has come out of joint a/c so £30 to find to cover this. £200 in joint a/c today from OH so keeping that ticking over.

OH is of sick today but he is poorly but he wont get paid :( so short next week but should be ok. Spent £23 on my credit card yesterday had to buy OH's son a birthday present, was £60  but had amazon voucher from survey site so at least not as much spent. £1.86 arrived from quidco today so have sent that to the card so now £63.88.

Shouldnt be a spendy weekend, of to friends birthday BBQ tomorrow, free food :) and hopefully if OH ok helping out at friends on Sunday and she will give us lunch :)

Morning world :D Its Monday but am here on my own in the office so nice and quiet :)

Weekend was good, saturday was spendy as bought paper and then had takeaway in the evening but made up for it with free lunch. Fab BBQ at friends and some I havent seen in ages :)

Sunday didnt spend a penny, helped out at a friends although need to go back but all productive. Made a lovely shepherds pie and have leftovers for lunch today. Re-listed some ebay items that didnt sell. One item sold and has been paid for so will post today, last weeks items still havent been paid for so have opened case on ebay so can relist if they dont pay up.

Loan payment out today so another £147 of the total. Will be a NSD today. Added up 14 NSD for September so not bad.

Good morning, another day on my own in the office, oh joy! Didnt end up being a NSD as had to rush around getting some drawings printed for work but the money is reclaimable so not as bad as could be.

£28 min payment for CC1 today so that helps, must check paypal tonight and withdraw as think got £20 in there, need this for vet as only got £42 in savings, prob £150.

Undecided about the download festival as even though they say tickets are included in the price they are charging extra, a friend is fighting for it but not sure how that works, so its an extra £160 to find. Really dont think we can afford to go, we could have a week away at this rate or clear a large portion of debt. I think I am talking myself out of it. We need to get a new bed as ours is falling apart and also desperate for some new work boots so a shopping spree is planned for this weekend, unfortunately no money in the budget for this :( So will have to go on a card, grrr, definitely no to download I think.

Technically, if you're spending for work and claiming it all back, it's a NSD.
