My Tivo box, which was ordered on 14 November, was installed this morning. My V+ box, which was due to be moved to another room, is now redundant, as I was given a new box. Hopefully DS will be able to copy stuff we have not watched from the old box to the new one. Don't know which Tivo box we have, but will check later.

I did not pay for installation and now paying less per month.

Are you on XL? I was told that I would have to give the V box back unless I was paying for XL.

Doubtful as the record/play will be turned off on the redundent box as will the channels and VM will want the box returned.Suprised the installer didn't take it with him.So they'll more likely pass the collection on to the agency that collects them.

Typical signal level issue, you need a service tech out to check not only the levels but cabling, splitters ect.

The techncian left the box, saying we should be able to transfer from one to the other using an external hard-drive. If we can, we can. If not, it is not the end of the world. If Virgin want the box back, then can have it with pleasure. It will be of no use to us.

I am surprised. I have been told that I would be required to send it back in the same padded envelope used to send the new V+ box to me.

So you decided to get V+ instead of Tivo, I personally think you have made the correct choice..:T

No I haven't actually decided. My last entry is just what I was told by VM would happen if I did request a new VM+ box. I might just settle for a new V+ box which doesn't record. I have managed with just the VM saved programmes up until now.

Personally I would go for the TIvo, leaves the V+ box for dead. I have personally used 4 Tivo boxes and everyone of them has worked perfectly, but then again maybe I am just lucky;)

I have read so many negative comments about TIVO teething problems and weaknesses in comparison to a V+ box in the past 10 days that it has really put me off it.
