As the title states, if you are thinking of taking up the VM Tivo service, have a read of this forum first & any questions you have should be answered.

This is useful thanks! I have had a very confusing phone call with VM this morning and what they told me conflicts with the info on their website. It seems that there are 2 versions of the VM + box. One allows you to record and one doesn't. The website only shows the TIVO box and 1 VM+ box.
I see that others have had this problem as well! It's not just me.
Why do they want to take an old VM box which only takes scart leads back?0 -

Might be worth a mention that this Virgin Media Help forum is a public forum, not just available to Virgin customers. So any questions, post them on.0 -

A-Because as the only loan them to you they can offer service calls & upgrades free or cheaper than SKY
B-So,like Sky,they can be used again on service calls or installs where people still use SCART leads
The are quite a few versions of the various boxes in use, which one you get depends on what area of the country you are in as well as what platform is used in that area. For example, the old PACE 100's wouldn't work in certain areas of the country properly for the broadband, which is provided via the TV box instead of the Cable Modem,so they got all the Samsung boxes.0 -

ALL Tivo's record - the only difference is in the size of the HD, the standard uses a 1TB drive, the budged version is 500Gb, otherwise they are identical. Don;t be confused with the non-recording cable boxes (which are mostly HD), or the recenty discontinued V+ boxes, which are being phased out for Tivo.0 -

But the 1TB drive one and the budget 500GB are both described as TIVO. Their website also still offers a V+ box but I was told on the phone that there were 2 grades of V+, one which records and one which does not. This is not advertised on the site.0 -
Albeit I was hesitant to get Tivo. With my V+ now upstairs in the bedroom and my Tivo set up in the lounge, I have not had any major issues with either of them and am happy with the Tivo (although I don't like Tivo deciding to record things it thinks I may like).
I much prefer the Tivo to V+ and cannot see myself downgrading back to V+ anytime soon.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I have 3 500gb Tivo boxes, before that I had Sky HD. What do I think of the Tivo boxes? absolutely brilliant, they are not a budged version at all.:pB&SC No. 298

Curious question. Can you stream movies from one Tivo to the other?? They say its possible but have so far not heard if anyone has successfully done this.I have 3 500gb Tivo boxes, before that I had Sky HD. You did not have to return your V+ box? i suppose you must have the XL service?0 -

So why do you prefer Tivo? i have to decide whether to have V+ or tivo as my basic V box cannot do HD. i have seen a lot of complaints about Tivo today.0
