People not knowing how to use motorways properly.

Small vent: why do people not know how to use a motorway?

It's simple: You stay in the leftmost lane until you need to overtake something, you do so, and then go back in the left hand lane.

The amount of idiots pottering along in the middle lane today is unbelievable, and when they're 'flashed' out of the way they seem to take offense as if I'm in the wrong.

If something that simple throws someone, they shouldn't be on the road.

Rather than flashing "people out of he way", concentrate on your own driving. If you need to overtake, go round them. Calmly and safely.

Lots of people drive as you've described. Driving up behind them and flashing them is NOT the way to behave at 70mph. If you do that, then you're the one who shouldn't be on the road.

The proiblem is caused when they travel at 55mph and still sit there! The M40 was blocked for miles by people driving slowly in the middle lane and mad maniacs travelling at 90+ in the outer lane. What do you suggest then, because you can't undertake either?
  • How is flashing them to remind them they're in the wrong not the way to behave? How else will they learn? Usually with 2x HIDs and 2x Osram Nightbreaker main beams people get the message.

I don't see why I should have to go from lane 1, to 2, to 3, back to 2 and then back to 1.

If you have a better way to remind people of their obligations regarding lane discipline, I'm all ears.

Passing on the left is a last resort, because frankly I'm not changing lane 4 times because of someone's inability to drive.

There is nothing you can do, apart from fit high-intensity bulbs and hope they get the message across.

Two wrongs don't make a right. The police might take a dim view of flashing to get someone out of the way and it only confuses the person, who is driving slowly (but not correctly) and who obv don't think they're in the wrong as they're carrying on...

Recently, I was in the outside lane in roadworks observing the stated speed limit (in the middle of a 7-hour drive so already tired) and a bloke stormed up behind me flashing his lights. No help at all and very dangerous!

I would normally stay over in correct lane for my speed and do the overtake on the right thing correctly, however annoyed I am by the lane hogger...

By blinding them? As you get older, your ability to react to lights when driving diminishes and what you're doing is just plain dangerous.

    I'll assume you're a fairly young bloke with a souped-up car?

Sorry, but you are a liar, you don't do this.

If you think this is a good idea, you are either twelve or too stupid to hold a driving licence.
