70 mph being the national speed limit!

Er, isn't it against the Highway Code to be travelling slower than 10 mph below the speed limit?

Or is that another apocryphal tale my driving instructor told me years ago?

I think you can get in trouble if your doing 20 mph on a motorway when all the other traffic is doing 60-70mph.

THeir may be exemptions to this.

    nope.
    Bullying is about aggression.
    The OP was being assertive.

He can hardly have a nice chat to discuss the issues with a the driver of the other car while going down the motor way.

It becomes bullying when after you have flashed them and they have moved over you give them abuse rather then over taking them.

Whats up with a driver who decides to tail gate a driver in the middle lane(left lane is full or driver is overtaking before he pulls in) who is doing the limit but waits an age bdefore deciding to over take when the right hand lane is compltetely free.

This happens to me a lot especially in France. I cant understand them and im not going to speed up to over 100mph just to get away.

Like most people, i hate lane hoggers and tailgaters, but i love driving on motorways. Cruise control at a reasonable speed , 6th gear and relax :D

On my driving lesson today I had a middle lane hog on the A1. I knew I was going to need to go into the left hand lane a mile or so ahead so I stayed behind and did 55mph on a national speed limit road so not to undertake him! As a learner I didn't feel confident in going to the middle, then right, back to the left lane within the time I needed. It's amazing the rubbish driving you witness during driving lessons, I guess because I'm being taught to do everything safe and legal and get told of any mistakes I make, then I see others driving worse lol. I guess that's what driving is all about though, avoiding other people's mistakes

FGS ! Just go round them if they pee you off so much. Flashing your lights will just make them think theres something wrong with their car, they won't think you're asking them to move over. Do you think by blinding them they're going to go home and read up on lane etiquette ? They have no idea they're in the wrong lane, get over it.

And i agree, OP, you come across as an impatient bully.

Flashing people on the motorway is intimidating. Especially when the 'flasher' is one foot away from your car.

I am a confident overtaker but I follow the rules. I never driver over 70mph. So I am in the right when overtaking a series of slower moving cars before going into the left hand lane. There is no need to swerve in and out to overtake. People need to assess their surroundings and see how many cars there are that need overtaking. If you swerve in and out you are more likely to have/cause an accident because a lot of people don't follow the law and drive over the limit.

Don't forget breaking distances. There is no need for people to drive so close to one another on the motorway, it is very dangerous. When I am driving I leave plenty of distance between myself and the car in front. That seems to leave drivers behind me to become desperate to get into that space. It is not a free space, it is there just in case I need to make an emergency stop.

I am not a perfect driver but I try to drive as safely as possible. I learn from my mistakes and adapt my driving methods to suit the situation I am in. Its a shame there are lots of drivers out there who need to get where they want to be so quickly that they want to intimidate others to get there.

    Nope. It is bullying.

It doesn't happen to me often but when it does I NEVER move over. if I do then I am encouraging that person to bully the next person and the next and the next.

You are obviously a bully as well. Another one.
