Fancy headlights? The Nightbreakers are a tenner a set, and the dipped beams are standard.
Why would I show off about my car? It's a rusty old Rover 75 diesel, nothing worth showing off about.
Nothing lacking in my life thanks, I have 2 businesses, a nice house and a gorgeous 3 month old daughter.
And if you don't like reading about whatever I choose to post, go and read something else. It's a public forum, so just because it doesn't interest you doesn't make it irrelevant for everyone else.
Thanks all the same though...

And if you were in the correct lane (ie, the right hand lane) when trying to pass a car that is in the middle lane then you wouldn't need to flash the middle lane driver.0 -

That's it exactly. Flashing lights is only to let people know you are there, there is no other reason for flashing them.
Personally I stay in the left hand lane and undertake, and I couldn't give two hoots what the motoring nazi's on here think about it.Pants0 -
Will there be a thread about incorrect use of fog lights soon?!0

Staying in the left hand lane and only moving into the middle lane to overtake is not feasible these days as the slow lane is filled with very slow drivers who hover around 50 mph. It means you are constantly weaving in and out. You should stay in the middle lane if you average 70mph or above and only move into the slow lane if someone comes up fast behind you and the right lane is busy. Flashing lights at people is ridiculous and tends to be done by prats. If someone flashes the lights at me I slow down and refuse to move over (if it's safe to do this)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I was on the motorway the other day (as a passenger) and noticed that if the drive of the car I was in, went to the left hand lane once she overtook each car, she'd be going back and forth between left and middle lane a lot. She was going about 65-70mph on average, sometimes a bit slower if a large car overtook her, because of the spray from the back of the car as it was rainy.
I do hate some middle lane hoggers though, I'm learning to drive myself and have been on 3 lane dual carriageways and can see how they can be a nuissance, as it means drivers who overtake the middle lane then need to get back into the left lane, it can be unnecessary lane changing.0 -
I see your rule 264 and add another from the highway code:
110
Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users.
As was said above, two wrongs don't make a right.
Dave
Could also argue that's what the other poster was doing, letting them know know they were there so they can move over as per highway code.
I hate those high power headlights though, they practicly blind me and are totaly unnecessary for a road car.0 -
There was an interesting article about this topic in the Telegraph last week:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/8958695/Why-elderly-are-middle-of-the-road-drivers.html
I drive a lot of miles each year (6,300 since I got my new car on 01 Oct this year) and a lot of that is up and down the A1M/M1 so see this a lot. However, whilst it brings up a slight feeling of annoyance it doesn't incite road rage or any other antic-social behaviour in me - I want to make my journeys as stress free and easy as possible. There's too much other stuff happening on the motorways to keep my eye on.
Mind you, the four lane section of M1 brings out the worst in me, now we have three lanes of slow moving lorries and one of cars! :rotfl:0 -
