a friend told me the other day that his ex genuinely thought that each lane was used dependent on speed you are travelling :

    70mph in the left lane
    80 in the middle
    90 in the right

    lol

im not really sure how she came up with that one.

what really annoys me are the "silly" drivers who drive on the slip road to join the motorway at about 30 mph and all the HGV drivers and others on the 1st lane have to slow down just to let this driver through.
    Absolutely lethal!!!!!!!

I really dislike them sunday drivers, they are normally the ones that drive a Rover 75 or so. Usually sat in the outside lane flashing other drivers to move out of the way, when they are overtaking cars (slowly) at an acceptable speed for them. Just becaause they are not overtaking at the speed of light, why should they have to move over?

Anyhow, whats the rush? You will only gain 20-30 mtrs and usually we see you further down the road.

Of course I mean when the other lanes are empty - I don't have a problem with people overtaking at whatever pace they please, as long as they revert to the correct lane when safe to do so. Point out where I said I did?

What's the point of sitting behind people flashing them, when they themselves are overtaking? They obviously can't go anywhere else, so doing so would be pointless.

And kindly point out where I mentioned the outside lane, I can count on one hand the number of times I drove in the outer lane today.

Maybe you should read posts more fully. :)

M4 was a nightmare for this today. It appears when it rains heavily the best place is to hog the middle lane. Grrr!!

Some people who get flashed at to get out of the way by some smartarze driver who can't be bothered to overtake them stay just where they are. I'm one of 'em.

If you were in the correct lane, you wouldn't get flashed. Maybe if you drive in the correct lane, you'll resolve your own 'issue'.

I see your rule 264 and add another from the highway code:
    110

Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users.

As was said above, two wrongs don't make a right.

    Dave

I flash my headlights to let people know that I am there, and by inference if they have an ounce of knowledge they should move over to the empty space on their left.
  • I am so glad that I am not the only one who hates flasher/horn blowers who think they can bully other drivers.

Back off or overtake, do not take it upon yourself to boss other drivers.

If you're in the correct lane, then yes I agree. If you could be in a lane to your left and you're not, then you need to move over. Deal with it.

Men who show off about their cars and fancy headlights are clearly compensating for something lacking in their life. It's a car. Most of us has one. It gets us from here to there and back again. We don't need to know any more about yours.

By blinding them? As you get older, your ability to react to lights when driving diminishes and what you're doing is just plain dangerous.

    I'll assume you're a fairly young bloke with a souped-up car?

Yes, my Rover 75 Diesel Tourer is 'well pimped mate'.
