Turtlemoose Breast feeding is your decision and your decision only. You should only give it up the day you don't want to do it any more. If you give it up because other people are moaning about it I think you'd regret it. Similarly you shouldn't feel guilt tripped into breast feeding if it's making you unhappy. Giving baby the colostrum is the best thing you can do (a midwife told me this and not to feel guilty if you can't give any more) Baby needs a happy mummy. I would say though give it 6 weeks, many women I've spoke to tell me it all just clicks around then.

Lirin Hope your night isn't too bad! :)

    Morning all!

To be honest before I started BFing I had no idea it was so exhausting, I think it's hard to appreciate how much work it is until you do it yourself. But my OH is brilliant, always fetching me drinks and stuff, he'd like to be able to help ore though I think.

Last night was tobethe first time we gave G formula so I could catch up on sleep but it turns out (after me spending most of the day feeling guilty about it) that George won't take it. He's normally so greedy and took the bottle of expressed so easily it never occurred to me that the contrary monkey would refuse it! I think we'll try making up a a bottle of half BM and half formula, see if that helps. Anyone else have similar issues?

Hope everyone got some sleep, we were up twice, including now but I'm hoping he'll go back down again.

Turtlemoose, sat here desperately trying to stay awake after about 3 hours sleep, and really bleeding thirsty, I do sympathise!

I'm lucky that I find it relatively easy compared to some, but yes, it makes you knackered, starving and thirsty. Being awake at 5am watching the baby sleep feeding and my other half snoring is infuriating! But it does have some good moments too. :) Sometimes he'll lie there and grab his dinner with both arms in a 'mine' sort of way, or pats at it, which amuses me, or just stare straight at me intently. As your baby gets bigger and more interactive, it does get more rewarding. It is something that is only yours.

I'm confused by this insistence that men need to help feed to bond! My other half has never done a milk feed, and still adores his boy. They play together, he does nappies, and now we're on to weaning, he likes to do those feeds.

Lol its not just my OH aimless his mum tuts and frowns when feeding is even mentioned. She had a strop in the hospital because we were cup feeding him when she though he should have a bottle. Apparently "nobody thinks about how she might be feeling"....erm our newborn baby was in hospital, she's correct, I didn't give a damn what she was feeling as I was so worried about my baby!!

Anyway, new day, I had 2hrs not sleep but relaxing, then 3hrs sleep, then 1hr 20 sleep - the most I've had in 3 days so while still a zombie, relative to the past 3 days its actually a lot so i feel good. Reuben sneezed out a HUGE bogey (gross!), it was rock hard too - hopefully that will make him feel better now hes cleared that, he certainly seems more cheerful :)

Hmm my phone wants to autocorrect bogey to voyeur...how on earth does it make that link!?!

Hope everyone had a good night :) xx

Ah, in the nicest possible way, stuff her :D Your baby, your rules. My other half's mum wasn't deliberately opposed, but I had a few comments along the lines of 'you'll be giving him that formula with cereal in soon' and 'how long can you keep that up for?' In my kinder moments I put it down to lack of experience, but at about a week post birth it was quite upsetting.

Very little sleep here, jabs and teeth meant bed around 2 and up at 5.30ish.

aimless sorry to hear you had a bad night :(

We had another 3hrs this morning, he seems to be making up for lost time with his sleep which is wonderful!so now I feel refreshed, and he is my happy chilled out baby again instead of the snotty grizzly monster he'd been replaced with :)
