Yay sammie for a full nights sleep (even if you didnt quite take full advantage!)
As for expressing, when it comes to it I don't think I'm going to have a problem. I had plenty of practise in the hospital, and at home I have hand expressed a few times - either to relieve pressure, or if I get a hard lump that doesn't clear after a feed, or just to see what my range is (lol!) - and tbh the stuff just pours out! I only have to look at Reuben and I feel a tingle ....thinking about him does it too,..also cuddling the OH (I leaked all over him the other day in bed!)...looking at photos of Reuben...or a photo of the OH holding him (or him really holding him too of course!)....all of one things set things flowing so to speak...I barely have to to touch them and it just pours out, and if I massagee or do deep breast compressions....well I have a range of about 2 feet (seriously!)....but that just kinda makes it all the more frustrating!!! It's there boy ,just drink it!!!
I'm hoping this is just a hiccup and I need I ride it out - although one day feels like a long time because that is 10 to 12 feeds so feels like a couple of days! As long as he keeps doing wees and his poo stays yellow then I don't really want to bother the health visitor as she's a bit crap0 -
Carmilla mentionedf my problems.....
Here's a summary.
Noticed at 4 weeks everything didn't feel alright down there. Everyoe else I knew appeared to be healing, I was still finding it difficult to sit without my eyes watering!
At 6 weeks, mentioned to GP. Perfectly normal, he said. Didn't look. Was kind of glad, as I was very squeamish about down there.
A fortnight later, after getting more concerned, and having massive problems- will tell in a mo- I went to a local standin GP- she referred me to a consultant. She couldn't even do an internal exam, as it wasn't possible.
I saw the consultant, who told me I would need surgery, and placed me on a waiting list- it took two months to be seen. I was told surgery could be anywhere between now and Dec. A member on here talked to me, and I phoned and requested it was moved to a sooner date, due to the probs I was having. Was carried out on 22nd June.
Basically, I found I was having massive problems peeing. I would pee, but it wouldn't come out very easily. And it hurt. I could move easily from 6 odd weeks, but peeing still hurt. Sex when we tried was impossible, way too sore.
Had a look, and was shocked. It had taken so long to look as I was still bruised and swollen a few weeks on- I kept rebruising and swelling. Basically, the reason I had problems with toilets and sex- my stitches were still in place, and I had been stitched an inch and a half higher than the opening inside. Basically, stitched shut...
Everything was tight, looked different, and was very wonky. There were a couple of blue/purple bits which hurt to touch- exposed muscle. Consultant told me after the operation I had in June that I had exposed muscle inside as well.
I was also told then I had had an episiotomy during the labour- I would have liked to have known at the time. Not six months later. I thought I had just ripped, as Rose came into the world waving....
After the op- still have problems. The op was 25 mins, which seems so short. Didn't feel anything initially, then had the joy of the first pee/poo all over again.... Though the worst pain disappeared in a couple of days. I think I still see exposed muscle, and it's still stingy sore, but hey- I can pee again! I have been left with a huge mass of scar tissue on one side, and there's a bit that looks like it should have been closed up....
I have an appointment in the next few weeks to discuss how it's healed with the consultant, and will see what happens.
Not happy, as the labour was fairly uneventful and short. If anyone has any problems, or are concerned- don't do as I did, and see what it looks like when it heals. Go now, and get it looked at properly. Will take PM's if anyone has a query....
Very grateful for all the PM's, texts, flowers and visits from members on here- as well as the person who helped me..0 -
Um, sorry if that's really long or TMI, but hopefully helps someone... Have heard so many people with problems, it's a little shocking. I still think mine was the result of being very early in the morning and MW's wanting home, and the bloodloss I had was severe enough that they wanted it closed fast.0

Lirin - I can't believe you have been through all that, you have my complete admiration as I can not even start to think how much pain you must of been in. I though they would of told you you had an episiotomy, I expect things would have been sorted a lot sooner had you known that.

Hi, I often look at this and the pregnancy thread but never really plucked up the courage to post! I have a beautiful boy who is just over 4 weeks old and am loving being a first time mum, but the lack of sleep is driving me around the bend. I don't really have any friends with babies so don't feel there is any one ican moan to and ask advice from. I obviously expected sleepless nights but my child really does not seem to sleep. He catnaps throughout the day and night. He will sleep on me and will sleep in his car seat on a car journey and in his pram when being pushed. Can I get him to sleep in his Moses basket though?! As soon as I put him down I get about 10 minutes before he starts roaring. This is day and night. I'm breast feeding so he also seems to want feeding every waking hour. My OH helps when he is at home but as he has to get up in the morning to go to work, I do all the night shift. What I want to know is, is this normal and have I got to just stick it out? Do you think there is something wrong? Have you got any advice for getting him to sleep on his own in his basket? Any ideas for routines or is it too early to start establishing routines? I've already tried a dummy at bedtime, Ewan dream sheep, a projection soother, putting an item of my clothing in his basket, rocking, singing.... And am at my wits end with this night owl baby, especially when I hear about how well other babies seem to sleep. Please help me!!0

Kind of feel like a fraud when people say it must have been horrible pain. It wasn't. It was mid-level pain, but fairly constant, so just kind of got on with things really. It would have been nice to have all info. Would be even nicer if I was sure it was sorted- but I am not. Will have to see how it plays out.0

Hi Hun
Have you tried putting him into any type of routine? Most babies by 4 weeks will be sleeping for a slightly longer period at night and waking maybe 2 or 3 times, but every baby is different. It may be that he is hungry and it might be worth giving him a formula feed at 10pm and seeing how that works out - i know this is not for everyone but it worked with DD2 as i wasnt producing enough milk.
Have you spoken to your Health Visitor? I know some of them are useless, but the good ones are really helpful and may offer some good advice.
Also, have you tried leaving him to cry it out for a while? Babies are quick learners and if you pick them up as soon as they start crying then they expect it everytime - maybe leave him for ten mins and see if he settles?xxDue 26th July, team yellow0 -

My little darling always wants breastfeeding after food! Not sure if it is because it wears him out and he wants to sleep, or if he just fancies his 'proper' dinner after that nasty mushy stuff.
Pinkspiral, my number one baby was like that, didn't sleep, and he screamed and screamed! No real advice other than they will grow out of it one day! The first time I put this one down in his crib and he stayed asleep, I didn't know what to think. He still doesn't nap much, but will sleep for at least some of the night.
