If he's not any better today it might be worth looking for a breastfeeding support worker/group locally to go and talk to? There's probably lots of reasons for fussing instead of feeding properly, but I'm no expert! Does he settle to it eventually after the fussing? I remember someone saying coming off and on is a way of encouraging your supply to increase. Or it could be a bit fast at first so he pulls away from it? Or he may just be having an off day. But if you could find a local group to go to, it'd hopefully make you feel much better about it all, there's bound to be someone there with similar experiences.

I would agree about expressing too soon, it does seem to cause problems for some people, and is hard work. And why would spending ages hooked to the pump be any more relaxing for you than being hooked to the baby?

I'm lucky that I have a relatively easy time of breastfeeding compared to some stories I've heard, but I've just started a bit of hand expressing to put in his food, and wow is it hard work to get the damn stuff out. :D I got 3/4 of a Tommee Tippee pot today, and I think that's the best I've ever done.

Oh, after yesterday's 'carrots are bleurrghhh and make me gag' fun, he's really snotty again today. That always puts him off food, I think it makes it harder to swallow. Not sure if it is a cold or hayfever, but it is frustrating when you don't know if he hates the food or just can't get it down!

Mothercare will not pricematch the sbuzz jumperoo, more research required :(

Maybe useful tip, SIL said not to put the legs on the leapfrog table till you need them as she hasnt been able to get them off again.

my DH likes it when Seb does the boob hunt across his chest, i wish he could latch on, so he could feel what it is like, especially as his bottom teeth are poking through.

Gilly, Aaron does seem to eat more than Seb, but we have only just started with the more solid food. Seb eats better than his 6 week older cousin, so it proves its best not to compare babies too closely.

^^ what Mozzy said :) Make sure you drink plenty to keep yourself hydrated and you can always go and get his weight checked if you want some reassurance. In fact I'd be tempted to speak to your hv anyway, then when you start getting 'advice' you can tell them that hv said not to do it :)

Elliot just ate a dessertspoon worth of banana porridge powder made up with water, and wanted bf'ing straight after so he really doesn't eat all that much solid food yet! Might try him on a bit of bread for lunch to see what happens.

Carmilla - ow to the teeth! Elliot tried to latch on to a female friend the other day. We were laughing too much to rescue her ;) No sign of teeth here yet, though he is quite dribbly.

    Morning all
    Noah slept from 9.00 to 7.45am!! :j
I kept waking up and checking in him though!!
Went into town this morning and bought some spoons, bowls, juice beaker and a blender. Going to make a space in my cupboard today ( I think it was sunshine who gave me that idea!!)
I've got the food shopping being delivered this afternoon so just going to have a quiet day in.
Another quick question for you ladies!!
Did anyone start giving baby juice before weening? They had some on offer today so I bought a couple of bottles to keep in the cupboard.
    Thanks xxx

I can't remember if I said the other day or not. My HV recommended not to give baby juice as it's really high in sugar. She said you're better just giving water.

If you do give juice though, only give it from an open cup, not anything with a spout/teat etc xx

We only had 1 wake up here last night so think the growth spurt it passing, thank God! Used a re-usable nappy last night over night for the first time, no leaks!

Seems to be really sunny today, so gonna attempt to get out for a while :)
