  • Question for the breastfeeding mummies - have you ever had a plugged milk duct? I've been to see Dr Google and can conclude this is what I think I have. I showed the midwife when it first happened and she said the baby would basically suck it out which I think she did but its happened again in the same place. This is the side I have more pain on when I feed her - is this related? Anyway, I had enough tonight and had a poke around with a cotton bud in the bath which seems to have released a bit of it but a lot seems to be under the surface. Is there anything I can do to release it and/or prevent it from happening again? Don't want to poke too much as I've got enough pain there!

Do that single ponytail on top of her head thing!

....And then post a picture :D

Crazy hair here too - masses of curls that have a life of their own! Detangle shampoo and detangle hairbrush are a godsend, and a hairband creates an illusion of order on particularly unruly days :)

Sunshine, hope things are improving for Aiden. Thinking of you x

Katie, hope George is OK - good to hear his appetite wasn't affected! Or maybe he's discovered the joy of comfort eating... :o

Lol, thanks nutella, I just wanted one asap. The one I had started failing and with my parents here we probably go out more and if she gets a chill I want to make sure I spot any rise in temperature. How much is yours though? I'm in spending mode lol, if it's not a lot I could always get it as a back up!

Argh, I just saw the price!! £45ish Amazon but half price at Dolby medical, in case someone wants it. Tempting as it is, I think I'd buy it for the adrenaline rush of shopping, I think I'm "comfort-shopping " because I'm anxious about the week. I also bought half a year supply of contact lenses online.

The only thing I would suggest is to massage the area pre feed and then Whilst your LO is feeding, that way it should move it with a combination of the massage and the sucking. Hope it's better soon.

Sunshine, hope your LO is on the mend :)

Not much change here, been back to the doctors today and been given a course of antibiotics as they now agree that (3 weeks on) I likely do have an infection in my boob, meaning we are still combination feeding as its too painful to feed all the time. I'm hoping to up the number of feeds from tomorrow though as Im going to a breastfeeding cafe for some support. If not will need to think seriously about the way forward as can't keep pumping as I am, it's so time consuming when you already have a toddler. Am gutted at the thought of not being able to feed her :o oh well, will see what tomorrow brings. Am also disappointed at the poor support I have been given despite seeking it, oh well, sleep and hindsight are great :-)

At least you're buying things you actually need and will be using, as opposed to, say, gift-wrapped cupcakes or books you'll never get round to reading :)

Although come to think of it, sometimes we do need cupcakes...

Hope things go well with your parents, you may find that your relationship with them changes for the better now that you're a mother yourself, I know mine has x

Morning ladies. No word from sunshine? Hope that's because hes doing better and she's too busy giving her boy cuddles. :o

Ha Nutella If he was going to start comfort eating yesterday would have been the day to do it - after splitting his lip open in the morning, in the afternoon I got Hetty out to Hoover but stupidly left the handle up so when he tried to pull himself up on her the handle flipped down, right on to the his other hand :(. Bad mummy.

And everyone needs cupcakes, there doesn't have to be a reason ;)

Still flipping icy cold here this morning, looks like the snow that had partially melted yesterday has frozen solid so the road is an ice rink. Meant to be going to two baby groups today but not sure I can face either staggering along with the pram or trying to skate the car out :/

Not much you can do other than keep feeding. The action of baby sucking (or you expressing) will eventually clear it. I don't want to alarm you but this is how mastitis starts - a blocked milk duct - so you do need to keep an eye on it. Personally I'm not sure it's a great idea to go poking because you could introduce the risk of infection or just make things sore generally. Try to make sure that baby has a full feed on that side and really empties the breast each time. You could even try block feeding for a while (feeding on the same side for two feeds in a row) so to be sure that it really is drained.

Keep feeding. If your breast gets very hot and inflamed or you feel feverish, pop to the quack's.

Nutella you should see lirin's little girl, now that is some crazy hair! It's totally wild and magnificent!

Sunshine hope to hear good news from you soon xx

Reuben has just demolished pât! on toast - it wasn't his, it was mine, but he whinged for a bit so I have him a little piece, and he then scoffed the lot. No pât! left, so plain toast for me, *humph*!!
