... Why I was told to always look at colours etc. in daylight if possible - things generally look different under a shop or warehouse light.
On a side note, I once had a car that was clearly purple. The DVLA insisted that it was blue because purple was a shade of blue. i suspect that there may be different shades of teal as well, ust as there are different shades of green, blue, yellow, red etc ...
Maybe they'll refund you out of goodwill - if not
A quick google (and common sense) implies you're right about different shades of teal:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=teal&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=a8MAT96ZA4qZOrynyZAK&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CBQQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=993
Along with the following quote on another page being:The various tones of the color like light or deep blue or green teal
And: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors
has several shades of tealYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
In my experience it's a mistake to try to match colours on different items, you can rarely get a good match. You're better off trying to find a colour that complements the other item, rather than trying to get an exact match.
I once sold a blouse on ebay and the buyer demanded a refund because the colour didn't match the skirt she wanted to wear with it. Different shade of turquoise apparently. Needless to say she didn't get a refund and I doubt the OP will either, unless the manager is feeling generous.0 -
To be honest I could not say that the one in store was or was not, what was delivered. It must have been pretty close otherwise, I would have gone "Nooooo" back to the drawing board.Having spent so much time on-line researching what I wanted and what I didn't want.
The salesman brought up website and confirmed what I had spent hours checking out.
So it is infact probable that the one supplied was infact the same as the one you have seen instore?0 -

Teal is quite literally half blue half green, whereas teal blue is approximately 18% red, 39% green and 43% blue. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Hence why we have to do a White Balance calibration when we take photos. And hence why shops should be describing their items properly [and hence having Pantone in the first place which has specific values to each colour].
Yes to be fair you are right, but being fair does not change your legal right in this circumstance.0 -
OP can I suggest going to the store with your rug that you have been sent and put it next to the one that you saw in store? I'm probably talking to a brick wall here though.
That picture on the website on my screen shows up nearly black due to my screen contrast settings. Yes, the rugs not the same colour as the sofa but if that's what you wanted you should have brought the arm covers (if you have them) or asked to move the rug to the sofa that looked the same colour as yours to check it.0 -
Before you go into not as described, are you allowed to return it? It wasn't made to order presumably, and in most stores you would be allowed to.
Re T&Cs, you signed to say you had read them, therefore just because you waived the right to *actually* do so does not give you anything.
Also, just because they have used the wrong word to describe the colour, you saw it and made the purchase in the store, not via the website therefore you have no distance selling rights even though you saw the image on their website.0 -
