nope - the photo is for representation only - the SKU for the product itself would be what the order is placed against - therefore you only have a case if the SKU number of the rug under the coffee table doesn't match the SKU you had delivered...

From the terms and conditions of the website...
    10. Colours and finishes
Photographs displayed on our website and display models and samples in our stores are representative of the finished product. Whilst every effort will be made to match all colours and finishes, goods are supplied on the understanding that there may be slight dye, shade and grain variations, particularly with natural products such as wood. Leather products are made from quality hides and may not be uniform in colour or texture and will show natural marks and scars. Where stated, some images have been digitally created to illustrate the colour options available for this range. These colours will be affected by your monitor and by your printer and therefore may not be 100% accurate to the finished product. Exact colour swatches can be seen in store.
  • I'm still confused! OP, to clarify, is that what happened:

You went into the store and said 'I would like a rug identical to the one under that table'?

And if so, is the one that you have received not identical?

And if so, have you called the store to advise them of this?

    Simple yes/ no answers please!

So it is the same colour as the one in the shop then.

BTW, your sofa looks light blue to me in that photo you posted, which just goes to show you can't use a photo to get a true indication of colour.

But with the greatest respect, you still haven't answered the question...

Was the rug that they supplied the same colour as the one you saw in the shop?

To be honest I could not say that the one in store was or was not, what was delivered. It must have been pretty close otherwise, I would have gone "Nooooo" back to the drawing board.Having spent so much time on-line researching what I wanted and what I didn't want.
The salesman brought up website and confirmed what I had spent hours checking out.

No the photo shows the colours, as is. In fact, Harveys do have sofas now this colour and they call them "Teal", ironically.

Which is the point many people have been trying to make. On my monitor your sofa is light blue, on the Harveys website the rug is teal, you cannot rely on photos for a true colour representation.

You should have been looking at the colour of the rug instore to decide whether it would go with your sofa, not the photos on the website.

If you are stood in a bricks and mortar store, have looked at the rug and paid in store then its an in person purchase - whatever system used to order the item does not change your legal right.
To be fair - the lighting in stores is completely different to the lighting at home; and something that looks one colour can be completely different once it gets home.

Hence why we have to do a White Balance calibration when we take photos. And hence why shops should be describing their items properly [and hence having Pantone in the first place which has specific values to each colour].
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

So your next step is to clarify if it is the same, no?

But you can't make the assumption that everything that is described as teal is precisely the same shade.

If you asked for "one like that" in the shop, your best bet is to go back and make sure that that is what you've received. If it's not, then your complaint is justified. If it is, then sadly you've made a mistake and you have no statutory right to a refund or exchange just because it's not the colour you expected.
  • ... Why I was told to always look at colours etc. in daylight if possible - things generally look different under a shop or warehouse light.

On a side note, I once had a car that was clearly purple. The DVLA insisted that it was blue because purple was a shade of blue. i suspect that there may be different shades of teal as well, ust as there are different shades of green, blue, yellow, red etc ...

Maybe they'll refund you out of goodwill - if not
