Making the future happen - museumworker's MFW diary Pt 2

Hi Toots, good to see you too. I don't think it's good that many people I know who work have no chance of buying somewhere at the minute, particularly if they work in a low-paid sector (like museums!)
Started mat leave a week last Friday - had a hectic half term so first week with DD back at school. Am officially in the crap sleep part of pregnancy though so feeling more tired by the day! Trying to gear myself up to get off the sofa, turn off In the Night Garden and take DS into town to see the butterflies at the NHM.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Hi MW, those restaurant meals sound fantastic. We don't have any local michelin star places so I am tres jealous!
Great news about your house value too, be even better when you are mortgage free.Nov 2025 - part 1 - £13,878 part 2 - £20,953 Total - £34,832 24 months to go!0 -
Rest up while you can. Xxx0

Popping on to record £1500 OP. Lots going on, but need to get DS (and myself) down for a nap sharpish.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Well done. The rising house value makes being mf even more secure as you could buy a nice house anywhere else in the country for half that.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
What a month! Had some anomalies thrown up with a routine growth scan, so have had another 2 scans and lots of tests - good news is that after all that baby seems fine and healthy (just a bit chubby in places
) I'm also carrying excess fluid, so very big, very heavy and keep pulling a muscle in my stomach - so trying to get a rest whenever I can.
We had a lovely weekend away for DS 2nd birthday - subsidised luxury caravan break where spent every afternoon in the outdoor pool, and DD did lots of activities (from water zorbing to canoeing). Had trip to seaside too, but mainly just hung out. We bought DS a scooter which he loves and is now a complete whizz on (a bit too quick for my liking!)
Have been trying the free toddler groups locally - the playbus, sing song at library, and this week tried somewhere just round the corner which also has free hm muffins - yum! As well as the park at the end of my street, and seeing friends, I've only spent £7.50 on groups since I went on mat leave! (And I didn't even enjoy the visit to that one much anyway)
Got some free tickets to see the Elphantom, a west end children's play, which took DS + friend to see this week. It was his first theatre trip and he loved it! I was worried he wouldn't be able to concentrate, but he was gripped the whole time. We'd been given a book he already had, and swapped it at the local bookshop for the book of the same name, so he knew the story already. It is great for younger children, and is doing free kids tickets in august as part of kids week, would definitely recommend.
We've been through all DS old clothes, got rid of ruined things, got a bag of good stuff to sell, pulled out the more gender neutral items, and gave the rest to charity. All stuff we're keeping is now washed and put away for the imminent arrival. Her hospital bag is packed, mine is half packed, and we have a list of people to call... hoping she comes soon now!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
