A no buying non-essential handbags thread anyone?
Not sure how you UU a handbag, so it may take some time to get through the stash :rotfl:No more buying unnecessary toiletries 2018
35 UU / 13 unnecessary ins0 -
Would like to be in again please
Not a good start though; over the holidays the following were added to my stash:
Mor Lychee Flower Hand Cream & Perfume Oil
Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm
Absolution La Solution + Fermete Corps body serum
Absolution Le Soin Du Corps body milk
Varnya Skincare Serum
Cosmetofruit Total Body Booster & Face Anti Aging Defense - beauty supplements count too, right?
Okay... no more products!!0 -
Hello I would like to rejoin all you lovely ladies please - I did sign up over a year ago and then fell seriously off the wagon - this time I must have more will power as I simply can't fit any more toiletries in the house! I have well over a thousand goodies and have them all on a spreadsheet (this revelation was a real conversation stopper
:o recently at work Xmas dinner which made me realise that I am not normal and must control my toiletry buying impulses.). I didn't dare confess that I had more than one spreadsheet - one by brand and then one by product type! At least I know that you all understand.....
I would like to reduce my stash by 100 this year and I like the idea of putting £1 in a pot for every UU so will be doing that as a motivator.
I know I won't be able to go 'cold turkey' so that is why I am aiming for a reduction of 100 so I can have some 'in's' during the year (I normally use between 160-200 items a year (according to my spreadsheets!).
I am also going to try to restrct myself to a maximum of 1 QVC TSV a month - Elemis this weekend so if I succumb to that then that will be it for the month. Any ideas what will be in the TSV?
I have 1 UU already - Liz Earle Daily eye repair 5ml - would buy again but still have 4 Liz Earle left to use! Am currently using Philosophy Hope in a tube and a Decleor contour mask for eyes and lips - both lovely but both full size and only just started so will be a while before I finish them.0 -

I think you need to use it enough to a) get bored of it, or b) to wear out the handles or buckle/buttons/zip!! Either way not easy

My plan is to put away £1 for each item I finish and put that away as my fund to replace things. My biggest stash areas are body lotions and shower gels but I'm not too bad this year compared with last! Fingers crossed for a good year of UUNot buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -
I'm in again....
Last year I went for quite a long time without spending any cash on toiletries. I used T*sco Cl*bcard points. I have loads of B**ts points but never use them.
All was going fairly well but I slipped slightly towards the end of the year.
I bought some things for gifts, then realised they were unsuitable. So I have a glittery shower gel and body lotion from Avon and a bottle of Pantene for coloured hair plus matching conditioner (Dropped it and broke the cap.)
I was sent quite a lot of different things to trial - 15 ml eye cream x 1, 15 ml Argan oil x 1, 250 ml shampoo x 1 and 250 ml conditioner x 2, c. 50 ml body butters x 3, 200 ml body lotion x 1, 50ml day cream x 1 plus 50 ml night cream. Plus falling for freebies and sending for samples...
Then there was the disaster I had with Clairol Foam Medium Brown turning my hair black. I got quite a few products with the £15 I had as compensation... Still using the HE leave in conditioner.
I used up about 10 out of date products as foot cream last year, decanted around 600 ml of unloved /elderly bath or shower products into the hand-wash, and bought my last ever Lush product. I spent around £7.50 on shampoo and conditioner and a fiver of that was on a Lush Seanik bar.
I do moisturise every time I shower, and would sooner go out barefoot in snow than not use moisturiser.
Favourite products of 2011: The unknown day and night cream I was sent to trial, ditto the eye cream. The lovely cinnamon and orange foot cream from Avon. The lovely thick body butter with urea from Aldi, ditto the body lotion. Original Source shower gels. My HG Mitchum roll on deo. As you may have twigged, I don't use make -up other than a bit of lipstick every now and then.
Biggest waste of money: The body wash I bought for £12 at a craft fair that was useless.
Prediction for 2012.
Perfume won't be needed, body sprays may be as my friend is forever begging them off me. (She hasn't changed. I buy them when on offer in Wilko, esp. the 2 for £1.50 or whatever, I use one and put one by for her.)
Shampoo - won't be needed, conditioner may be.
Shower gel - unlikely to be needed until the very end of the year.
Face cream/oil - won't need to buy
Body butter/lotion - unlikely to be needed until the end of the year, if at all.
Foot cream. May be needed but not if I use up other products on feet.
Hand cream - Never use it as hands are well moisturised applying everything else...
Hair colour - Have a Schwarzkopf to use soon.
Welcome to all newbies. Remember to use your expensive products and not keep them for best, (otherwise known as Pink Rose Candle Philosophy). Unused products do go off once opened and putting products in landfill is a no-no.
Good luck to all those resisting the sales and for those grabbing bargains, enjoy using them up or gifting them.
Thank you to Pickle for starting this thread! Thanks to all who have made such interesting contributions and drooly stash lists.
Thank you to everyone who makes this thread such a lovely place to be.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
hello newbies!
I have another UU but I'm rather sad and slightly annoyed about this one. I got a sample size Anastasia mascara in a set from sephora in summer, used it once in the USA just to see what it was like and at home it joined the stash queue. Went to use it last night and its now horrible and gloopy and a nightmare to use. Pink rose candle philosophy in action! From what I remember, it was lovely in summer0 -

Not sure how you UU a handbag, so it may take some time to get through the stash :rotfl:
I am with you on the handbags...I have had a serious handbag addiction for many years and only too a very upsetting dream to stop me buying them. I still indulge every now and again but I am very selective.
I have my first UU of 2012, my LHJ Elle MacPherson foot lotion. WBA as it was really lovely. It is not too heavy and sinks in very well. I have one left in my stash which I will take out and put in my en-suite.

Let me know if the Lush dry shampoo is any good, please, as I like the idea of a more natural version.
