Hi Evilsquid1603,
Your posts are very helpful and enlightening. :T I had been very worried reading the link that I posted especially when I looked at all the lust stuff that I have as they all contain SLS/ SLES, parabens and alcohols. At one stage, I was thinking of binning everything and starting afresh. Glad I didn't do that. I have decided to use up everything that I have and as and when I no longer have a stash of a product, replace it with a green/ natural alternative. In any case, I am definitely NOT ready to bin my S&G giftset that DH got me from Boots OOTW as I love it.I have also gone through your blog and everything you have said there makes sense.
I always used Herbal Essences shampoos and conditioners before I switched to Lush three years ago as always liked what they(HE) did to my hair. I bought 2 bottles of the conditioner last year during Tesco DTD and they just didn't feel the same. Now I know why as my hair hate Pantene.kiplingmonkey wrote: »
Hi
Not sure how I attach a document to a message if anyone can let me know then would be happy to post the spreadsheet
Kiplingmonkey,
You can create a google spreadsheet and then post the link here. I have just created a sample one and here is the link
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Al8xE9sdeAdjdHowMkNHa2tnWERNSFJ0T1RNUVZLVXc#gid=0
If you just google "goodle spreadsheet", it's the first result. Though you need a gmail account for this. Another thing, I will make sure is to select the option that anyone only with the link can access it. If you don't find your way through the website, I can help you as I work with computers and websites all day.
(And I am jealous of your stash of Kipling Bags;);))
:lovethoug:lovethougOh MoneyQueen...I love you! :lovethoug:lovethoug
Alas, it needs some serious editing as I am sure I've used up loads of things that I didn't even count as part of the stash in the first place (old make-up I've thrown away, mainly), but overall it has been a great help - thanks for rooting it out for me. How on earth did you do it?! I've searched via my name and every item I could possibly think of that was on there. Thanks muchly! :T
InaPickle,
I first searched for all threads (not posts as that can get pretty long) on this board where you had posted with the keyword "List". Then from the list displayed, I picked up the earliest thread and this time searched for the posts that you had created with the Keyword "list". HTH
I have a TBS peppermint cooling footlotion which is making the spluttering sound but just won't come out even though I can see a bit left there. I think I will have to cut the bottle to take it out and then I can start with the Heel Genius that I got in the S&G Splendour Box.
I had been using Lush Babyface with my Clarisonic at night and the S&G clarity on its own in the morning as a face cleanser but Babyface wasn't providing sufficient lubrication for the Clarisonic so am using them the other way round now and this seems to work much better. Hopefully Babyface will finish soon. I am also using my Lush Enchanted Eyecream as a night cream just to use it up as I don't think it was doing anything for my eyes. Have started with the Clinique eyecream for daytime now which I am finding much better.
Right, now off to drool on all the stash lists posted0 -
I've lost interest in BS. Mainly though cos they do so much shower stuff and I'm more into bath things.
I used to use bare minerals then discovered lily lolo which is just as good and a bit cheaper. I have greasy skin and could never get foundation to stay on for long. But the mineral powders suit me fine.0 -
Thanks for all your comments red the fcuk bag, I have weaned myself off it :A (cos I can't find any anywhere, and London is just too far away, even I realise that!!:p) and also reading some of the comments on the grabbit board it's not been well received. Although that's not to say if I found one in store on Monday I would walk past it :rotfl:
I opened up a Simple soap the other day and really don't like it, feels very drying. Cost was free, through the Tesco DTD offer but even then WNBA.Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -
I bought lots of BS stuff in the January sales last year on a friend's recommendation but didn't like it at all. I think I was probably expecting it to be quite natural but I always found that it smelt and felt very chemically IYSWIM. I am definitely not buying it again though still have some to UU.
Is this really bad that I have ordered a Kipling bag just now?
1.It's an across body which I don't have any at the moment as binned one recently.
2. I need it for my Vegas trip later in the year as I like to keep all my valuables on the front rather than on the side or the back when I am on holiday
3. I only own three Kipling bags
This is the one I have ordered

<SNIP>
Just wanted to correct you on this ES - Avon do NOT animal test, nor do they ask anyone else to do so on their behalf. Have a look at their site HERE for more information.
Welcome back SalesAddict - I'm another who remembers you from before, it's good to see you back, but sorry to hear you've been having a rough time of it.
I have my first UU of the new year - S&G Calm One, Calm All Bath Cream - WIBA? - yep! Lovely stuff, lovely smell, and seems fairly moisturising too as it doesn't leave my skin feeling tight, even after a good soak.
Have just had a good soak in the bath, deep conditioning treatment on hair, face mask, and am now sitting smothered in BS Moringa BB (which now only has one more use left in the pot, I've noticed) in my PJ's - perfect saturday night! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I love your blog evilsquid! Very informative!
MoneyQueen, I'm using up my naughties and I'll be replacing with greener products, or at least I'll be avoiding harsh/drying chemicals. I need to do a bit of research but I'm not drooling over everything on Amarya.co.uk0 -
Has anyone seen the new Pantene ad with Nicky Hambleton-Jones. I couldn't believe it at the end when, after speaking with the scientist, she said words to the effect of "oh, I must give Pantene a try now!" Her hair already looked gorgeous so I found myself thinking stuff the Pantene I want what she's using now! What a totally useless campaign. Was I supposed to think that she was not happy with her hair in the first place?
Have never tried Prai Beauty (am happy enough with what I use to want to try anything else) and simply can't afford NV Perricone (maybe evilsquid could give us the lowdown on their ingredients to justify the cost of the products).
sorry for *another* long post!
with perricone, the beauty brains cover this sort of stuff brilliantly. in their free report they point out that perricone's neuropeptide firming moisturiser that is $280 for 2 ounces is the same standard formulas of what you have at home now and the "special" ingredients mentioned haven't been proven to have any beneficial effect when used as a topical skin lotion.
also, dermatologists are skin doctors and treat skin disorders like acne, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea and melanoma. they can treat those disorders and can give prescription creams to deal with them that will be superior to shop bought creams but with anti-aging skincare they have no "magic" ingredients that only they have and no other company can use like they claim to. they use the same stuff all the other companies do.
l'oreal and estee lauder are the biggest makers of anti ageing stuff and spend millions each year on research. if those two don't use it anywhere, i'd be wondering why not.
I'm hugely skeptical about dermatologist endorsed ranges. they don't spend time dealing with anti ageing and they also make a huge amount of cash from attaching their name to a product. its like the pantene ad, they were all paid to say what they did so i find it hard to believe it is impartial, let alone the truth. theres a head and shoulders advert out at the moment thats the same thing, a scientist saying "hi i work for head and shoulders and head and shoulders is the best anti-dandruff shampoo!" i wonder if she'd also say this if they didn't pay her salary?
they've also got a great post here (http://thebeautybrains.com/2007/09/14/the-halo-effect-is-costing-you-money/) about the "halo" effect, when you put fancy names and claims on it, people think it is special but its really just bog standard cream packaged differently.
this one also refers to his and dr brant's skin tightening lotions as a "scam" (their words, not mine) (http://thebeautybrains.com/2007/03/05/skin-tightening-lotions-science-or-scam/)
I've found the ingredients to one of his masks and the liz earle equivalent.
legally, lists are in concentration order. what comes first is the biggest constituent then the second, third etc. when you get to about 1/3 down you are looking at minuscule concentrations of a few % or less than a %.
these are the ingredients to his hydrating nutrient mask at £50 a go:
Aqua (Water), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Sucrose Polybehenate, Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters (and) Jojoba Esters, Polyacrylate 13 (and) Polyisobutene (and) Polysorbate 20, Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Polysorbate-60, Pentylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate, Dimethyl MEA (DMAE), Magnesium Aspartate (and) Zinc Gluconate (and) Copper Gluconate, Hydroxypropyl Bis-Hydroxyethyldimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, L-Tyrosine, Dimethicone, Caprylyl Glycol (and) Phenoxyethanol (and) Hexylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol and Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Hydrolyzed Algin (and) Chlorella Vulgaris Extract (and) Sea Water, Squalane, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium PCA, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Thioctic Acid (Alpha Lipoic Acid), Hydroxytyrosol, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil (and) Tocotrienols (and) Tocopherol, Parfum (Fragrance).
it will be mainly the red, with orange only a few %.
that works out at £50 for some water, olive oil, shea butter and jojoba oil. squalane is a component of natural human sebum. the rest of the stuff will be emollients to essentially make it stick together like a cream, preservatives, acidity regulators and it has the addition of some vitamin E (tocopheryl acetate/tocopherol). i bet the green tea, algae and lovely sea water are there to look fancy. parfum can be anything but it will smell nice!
these are the liz earle intensive nourishing mask at £13.50 a go:
Aqua (water), Talc, PEG-20 stearate, Borago officinalis (borage) seed oil, Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Glycerin, Cetearyl alcohol, Panthenol, Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, Propylene glycol, Hypericum perforatum (St. John’s wort) oil, Symphytum officinale (comfrey) extract, Parfum (fragrance), Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalool, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben.
this one is mostly water too, talc gives it some bulk, with borage oil and shea butter doing most of the hydrating work. there are other plant extracts in there too, comfrey is a known skin healer and I've used comfrey tincture with tea tree oil on spots and cold sores for years to heal them quicker. this one again has fragrance but i know from research liz earle only uses natural fragrance. Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalool are natural constituents of essential oils but must be listed individually as they are known skin allergens and the words ending -paraben are your preservatives.
both are basically some plant oils but have a difference in price of nearly £40.0 -
thank you MoneyQueen and FannyadamsEssexHebridean wrote: »Just wanted to correct you on this ES - Avon do NOT animal test, nor do they ask anyone else to do so on their behalf. Have a look at their site HERE for more information.
thank you for that!
they do seem to be on lots of the lists on web including the one compiled by PETA. http://www.mediapeta.com/peta/PDF/companiesdotest.pdf
the BUAV haven't certified them for not doing so either.0 -
Liz Earle is definitely my favourite brand. I'm aiming to use up all the other stuff in my stash and only use liz Earle. It's the only brand of which I love every single product! XxAll you need is less0

Don't apologise it's interesting evilsquid! I'm definitely a sucker for the halo effect!
I'm working my way through the BeautyBrains download now.0
