    Ahhh you see evilsquid1603

I find that the clinique range is the only face care range that will quieten down my very blemish prone face and reduce redness.

just thought id put my tupance in

i suppose its one of those ranges that will divide people. the alcohol in it was just to much for me. ever since i used it my face has been ridiculously sensitive to anything with alcohol in. i used a dr haushka cleanser with alcohol in for 3 days and i got 8 spots from it.
  • I find although it does have alot of alchol in and when i first used it it did take some getting used to, i did find with regular (4 times a day to begin with - I had alot of very bad acne) it started to clear up alot and i get the occasional out break now.

Had another UU this morning which was the Boots Extracts Mango body wash. WBA as smelt gorgeous and a little goes a long way, bit pricey for the full sized bottle for shower gel (this one was a smaller size out of a gift set) at around £4 odd but Extracts range is Fairtrade so don't mind paying a bit more - don't need any at the minute though though as plenty of shower gel and soap to get through!

GA some perfume yesterday also, D & G The One, I don't like it, find it very overpowering, was an unwanted birthday present. I knew one of the girls where I get my nails done (I know, I know but its my treat to myself....) loved it so I took it for her, she was really pleased so I felt good about that and another item struck off the list :j

I've had a couple of INs strictly speaking, although they were direct replacements for items already on my stash list so I'm not going to count them - I hadn't used No.7 Protect and Perfect before and was part of the Hat Box that was OOTW at some point before Christmas - had a very bad reaction to it, mainly the Night Cream I think - was really surprised as I've not got particularly sensitive skin, although I do get the odd reaction, its rare and used loads of No.7 skincare and makeup without issue. Anyway took it back to store and they swopped it for Essential Moisture day and night cream - cheaper products but I know I'm ok with these - was a bit worried I'd have a problem as the Protect and Perfect were part of a set and I'd used other items out of it etc but the lady was fine and changed them no problem - probably as she could see the rash on my face and neck which after several days is still fairly noticeable and a little painful. I'm just about to email Boots about it also to complain - noticed on their website that the last review for the night cream is someone saying they had a reaction to it too despite having not normally sensitive skin. It is very heavily perfumed and just too overpowering for my skin so if you've never used it, I would advise to approach it with caution! Although I know tonnes of people must happily use it without issue.

Next step for me is having my stash in some kind of logical order so I can find what I'm looking for and run down the smaller sizes and older stuff first.

Noticed the FCUK bag had gone down to 75% off yesterday whilst I was swopping the moisturisers yesterday - not at all surprised, its the worst one they've done, the last couple of years bags have been much nicer, more products and better value for money - disappointing and I doubt I'd pay £5 for one...... Must do better!

i was on it for nearly 2 years and then all of a sudden my skin just went mental. when i used the toner it was like burning all over my face. i tried loads of stuff to try and sort it out but the only thing that did was liz earle.
  • That's interesting squid, because when my skin used to go mental, LE was the only thing that I knew would calm it again. I always have it to hand for flare ups, but am really into Lush 9to5 cleanser and 'bare angels' face scrub at the moment.

I've always got some in now. i found leaving my skin alone really helped too. i made sure i only did a proper exfoliation and mask once a week and my skin cleared right up when it was left to sort itself out.
  • Thanks EvilSquid, I'll check out your blog now.

I just downloaded the report from BeautyBrains so I'm reading that too.

I also can't be doing with Clinique, the 3 step system is much too harsh for me however I did tell this to a lady on the counter that was trying to flog it to me and she said that step two was very often misused as it's not a 'toner' in the sense that you soak a cotton pad with it and rub it all over your skin it's an exfoliator and you should just sweep a tiny ammount over your face. I thought that was interesting but even so, I think DDMC is pants and the cleansers are harsh too.

I also share your love for Elemis, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier and Mac. I like Bare Escentuals but the foundation doesn't work for me, it itches, although I believe they changed the formula since I last tried it? I haven't tried much Liz Earle except cleanse and polish - I did hear that they had been/will be bought out by L'oreal though, i don't know how true that is!

I'll check out Good Works, thanks! I had no idea about Kheils, damn and it looks so lovely!

What do you think of The Body Shop? (again are they now owned bu l'oreal?) I've used and liked their Earth Lovers SLS free showergels but I'm sceptical of their ethical/green claims these days.

liz earle was bought by avon in the end. thats why they've suddenly started doing "liz earle at home" parties. avon animal test but the BUAV certify that liz earle don't and they've said there still being left to essentially do their own thing so i'll carry on using them.

the body shop has been l'oreal for years now. the BUAV also certify the body shop as not testing body shop products on animals but they are in their little book of cruelty free with the note that the parent company l'oreal does still animal test. i did used to use it but I'm also skeptical of their ethical claims now. it seems to have gone downhill recently, our shop is always empty and its permanently on some sort of sale. i wonder if all the other users have figured out that its all just l'oreal now? the green/ethical market can be pretty fickle and easy to scare as well as highly lucrative. although i know people who used to use body shop and changed over to Lush.

I've only started properly using bare minerals this year, i just couldn't get the foundation to work and look right then i ignored the SA, went with my gut instinct and bought the foundation shade down from the one she recommended and did as they said to spend time properly buffing it in and now i love it. I've seen on makeupalley that some people have had reactions to the bismuth oxychloride in it, it might be that that you were reacting to?

also should add incase any of you use it, it was on beauty brains that herbal essences has been bought by Pantene and the formula changed to the same base as Pantene with a different fragrance in, easier for them to make one load of shampoo than two and people pay more for herbal essences! no point in you all paying more just for it to smell different.

Has anyone seen the new Pantene ad with Nicky Hambleton-Jones. I couldn't believe it at the end when, after speaking with the scientist, she said words to the effect of "oh, I must give Pantene a try now!" Her hair already looked gorgeous so I found myself thinking stuff the Pantene I want what she's using now! What a totally useless campaign. Was I supposed to think that she was not happy with her hair in the first place?

also as I have decided NOT TO BUY TODAYS TSV - as I clearly DO NOT NEED IT, I have addded an dadditional £5 to my savings pot. I feel very chuffed about that too!!

    Yay scrappie, well done!
Well done you :T- I am afraid I am half way to the naughty step and I must type quickly to confess but I did the Elemis TSV - I realised that I was running low on toner and I love the oxygenating night cream so thought it was worth the money - I went for the hydrating set (being old enough to have a 10 year old LOL). I did say when I joined the thread I would not do more than one tsv a month so that is now it - I will avoid watching on Beauty Day and willnot buy anything else this month.

BUT (and this is why I thought I could redeem myself from the naughty step) -I went in Boots for a new deodorant (these I have under control and don't have on my spreadsheet as I only buy a new one when I have opened my last one) and I saw the FCUK bags - I picked one up, I posed with the bag, I looked inside, I smelt the shower gel, I thought what an amazing price - £45 to £11.25 and then.......... I put it back on the shelf and walked away...:j

I'd let you off kiplingmonkey if you are running out of toner (don't have any in those 1356 products?? :rotfl:).

I hadn't realised there was a Beauty Day coming up and it's on a Saturday - will have to make sure I'm out all day. I had a nosey at the beauty TSVs and thought I was fairly safe - the Leighton Denny colours look very bland (and I have some similar in my collection (not surprisingly)), don't use SBC (have tried some of their products but very underwhelmed by them). Have never tried Prai Beauty (am happy enough with what I use to want to try anything else) and simply can't afford NV Perricone (maybe evilsquid could give us the lowdown on their ingredients to justify the cost of the products). Unfortunately though OPI are going to be on. If I see any of the new colours being previewed it's gonna spell trouble for my credit card!

On the subject of OPI I've had an email from Lena White that their sale is to start this Wednesday 11 Jan. Not that anyone is interested.

I, too, have been in Boots today. The only sighting I had of the FCUK bag was a lady in front of me at the till buying one. Can't say I especially noticed them in store. Had a little mooch around the gift aisles but I bought nothing. Emma bought herself the Gok Wan set with 5 products in (I may have to try some!) and I only came away with my planned purchases of cotton wool pads and tissue handy packs.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!
