Hi, didn't want to read and run-just wanted to say keep up the good work. Don't be too hard on yourself as all the changes you've made will soon add up and will become second nature to you in no time.... in the meantime a little blip is to be expected. Just don't let it beat you!!

Seeing the number of miles you cover on your bike rides has inspired me...I must start exercising as soon as.

Good luck with your debt busting journey x

  • Hey, you know what everyone falls off the wagon a wee bit every now and then. The main thing is not to take this as a defeat, it's not, it's just a few little bumps in the road - try and keep in mind the bigger picture and don't sweat the small stuff :-)

Thankyou so much for taking the time to read and answer WMLA & SAAC13:) It's nice to know others can add a more positive spin on things, especially things that wouldn't usually bother me, those that I find very easy to advise others on! Guess I'm not keen on taking my own advice:o

Had an ok day at work. Stuck to my meal plan (probably due to the lack of tempting treats in the staffroom:rotfl:)

Ate last night's left over chicken stew at lunch time and just had a light tea of scrambled egg on toast so that I can go to the gym later.

Today's a NSD for me which is always a bonus:T Had a nice hour's dog walk with a friend after work and feel a lot better about everything than I did yesterday.

Still waiting for the Halifax card to arrive so that I can start shifting some debt onto 0% to bring my DFD closer than originally thought.:D

DH called to say his review went very well and that he's in line for a very good bonus:j Not sure how much a 'very good bonus' is but at the end of the day a bonus is a bonus regardless of the amount and he's worked bloomin hard this year, so deserves it.

Right, off to sort out DD2 and get ready for the gym, may pop back later:)
Everything is ok in the end. If it's not ok, then it's not the end:)

    Thanks f1:)

Back from gym. Can't say I particularly enjoyed the workout but as the zumba class was cancelled tonight, I'm pleased I made the effort to go. Annoyed with myself for getting on the scales at the end tho, they made me more than I was when I started 2 1/2 weeks ago:eek: Rationally I know there is no way this is true. I weigh myself on MY scales and only ever first thing in the morning, with no clothes on. Gonna have to check in the morning and vow never to be so foolish again:rotfl:

Hope you've all had a good day I'm off to bed shortly, nite:)

    And now subscribed!:)

I wouldn't worry too much about your slight blip, just make sure it all gets paid off on payday!:p
Hopefully your OH will get a nice big bonus so you can make some further progress!
And as for the birthday treats, you're allowed some every now and again!:D But awesome effort for working them off by getting to the gym!

    Keep up the good work!!

    James.

Hmm.....bit of a blip all round:(

We seem to have hit a stumbling block mid-month after the initial "euphoria" of shaving a bit more off the debt on payday and allocating the monthly spends into envelopes. It's now the dull slog of staying on track and within budget and it's soooooooooo boring! I need to have a word with myself becsause it I was reading this in someone else's diary I'd be telling them to stick with it and not give in!

It seems that now we've put a bit on the credit card for the necessary car spending it's sparked off the mindset that I may as well give up trying to be careful. I've agreed to increasing the limit on the Next account so DH can order some new clothes and he's also sent a £50 cheque for his shotgun licence which we weren't going to do until his bonus was confirmed. I know it's not helping the O/D creep up by doing this but it's as if I can't be bothered to rein it in until payday is in sight. Quite annoyed with myself tbh can't really blame DH as he asked me if we could afford to do the above things and I said yes.

Also annoyed that after 2 whole weeks of sensible eating, exercise and weight loss, I've been tempted by Colleagues' Birthday sweets and cake. There would have to be two on the same day:eek: The rest of my meals were fine, just anoyed for the snacking.

The message screaming out to me is GET A GRIP WOMAN YOU AINT DOING TOO BAD but I feel like I've fallen off every wagon I was trotting along nicely on:(

This was me during the tail end of last year, I did fall off the wagon a few times and justify some unnecessary stuff too but as the others say we all fall off the wagon sometimes don't feel too bad! You can do it! I hope your DH's bonus is a big fat one :beer:

I'm not sure how I missed your thread last night when I was reading through, oops. We all have bad day, and this is an exceptionally long month. Tot it up to experience :) Have you considered putting by a bit each month to cover when your OH needs new clothes or the car needs something doing, shotgun license etc?? Putting by say £20 a month can ease the "ahhh somethings gone wrong" when it does go wrong because you've put it by, and £5 a week isn't really very much in the grand scheme of things. Hope you're feeling a bit more positive today *hugs*

kerri, you are so right. I really need to put even a small amount aside so that any blips are significantly reduced by whatever's in the pot.

I think I have become so focused on throwing every spare penny at the debt that there's nothing left for anything else. We have envelopes with cash separated out for the various kids' activities etc but apart from that I have 2 accounts with a £250 O/D which I zero out on payday and use them as £500 potential availability. All bills go out of a separate account. From next payday I will definitely be allocating a small amount to an emergency fund;)

Had a busy day at the theatre with Y11's. DH went to DS's parents' eve with him as I wasn't back in time. Now feel guilty as it's the first one I've missed, ever! OOh well, DH has missed loats due to work so I think it was nice for him to be able to make it.

I'll stop beating myself up now and go get an indigestion tablet after eating pizza, garlic bread and onion rings for dinner. Tasty but not the sort of thing I eat regularly and they've messed with my tummy. Missed swimming too as DH was still out so a good walk for me after work tomorrow:)
Everything is ok in the end. If it's not ok, then it's not the end:)

I have a good "pots" spreadsheet which shows me how much I've put towards each pot and how much has been spent. If you want it then I can email it to you :) I just set one up for my friend, he never thought about "pots" before today. DM me if you want a copy
I made a thread with a link to my pots spreadsheet, I thought you might find it useful :)
