Hi all, I've had, quite possibly, the worst week I can remember. My brother-in-law died suddenly at home last Sunday evening. He was 34. Everything's up in the air especially as the Coroner has called for an inquest.

I hope by getting back on here I can regain some focus and keep busy.

So sorry to hear this :( Big hugs and hope you are otherwise well, It's good to see you on here again xx

Stressedsteph...Now there's a wake up call if ever there was one! I hadn't thought to look what my balance was this time last year but now you mention it, it's almost exactly the same...meaning we have got nowhere, basically!

I did know that in my heart of hearts but it goes to show what happens if you continue to spend as you repay. It has made me realise that I am in a position to sort this, almost all the debt is on 0% so before things get any worse, I need to get rid!

Card payments taken care of this month, the main card has been overpaid. Food shopping is manageable and my health kick is in full swimg...onwards and upwards!

P.s Tonight I managed a half mile non stop frontcrawl swim, followed by a 50m cooldown in 23 mins after a break of at least 8 weeks. I'm pleased with that. Aiming for 6 more next week to get it up to 1k.

    nite all ;)

Come over to the Debt Free by Xmas 2013 if you'd like some company, we'd love to have you and it certainly helped me last year. Almost all of our debt is 0% now too and what isn't is on 6.9% for the life of the balance so nothing too scary...although some of the 0% deals expire at regular intervals through the year

Hi and thanks for the good wishes.:o

It's still a bit tough here at the moment, mainly due to the circumstances in which my brother-in-law died...
He 'd just landed to role of his life as a Financial Director and had just attended their company medical, when he slipped outside the building and broke his ankle quite badly and shattered his shin. This was on Christmas Eve and we were faced with him being stuck in a London hospital over Christmas. Luckily his wife collected him and he went into our local hospital on 28th to have an op to insert a metal plate. He was recouperating slowly at home and although not particularly mobile, he was on the mend....paramedics visited on3rd Jan as he was having chest pain and shortness of breath. After 2 hrs of assessments, it was decided that he had muscle strain from over use of his crutches.....10 days later he collapsed and died after paramedics were unable to save him. His death was caused by a pulmonary embolism. This was caused by a dvt originating in his lower leg, either from the original break or the surgery.

To make matters worse, the Coroner is not satisfied with clot prevention care and has called for an inquest. He said that my brother-in-law's death was completely preventable. To know that he was 34 years old, so full of life, sharing that with his wife and children...and shouldn't have died, is so hard to comprehend. We have the funeral monday, which just seems like an awfully long time since he passed away. This is not due to the inquest, just the matter of course.

I am still making sure that i keep on top of the finances, more than ever now. I don't want to spend a single moment longer than I have to paying off this debt. We want to achieve all the dreams we have with the family and our house as soon as possible. You just never know what's around the corner
    xx
Everything is ok in the end. If it's not ok, then it's not the end:)
