HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE MR THRIFTLADY:bdaycake:0
-
Morning all
A super-de-doooper hard frost over night - everything looks sooooo pretty. We've been forecast snow today and heavy overnight and tomorrow morning - DH has decided to work from home tomorrow to be on the safe side.
Got to wait for a freecycle bod to come and pick something up before I can crack on with stuff. Will get some baking done and tonights dinner sorted whilst I'm waiting though.
I made a cauli and veg curry last night in the SC - it tastes lovely but the smell has really over powered the house - need to get some bread going I think to make it smell a bit more pleasant.
Going to start making patterns for DD's beanbags today, she doesn't want conventional shaped ones or nice easy cubes......Ohhhh nooooooo......madame has asked for hearts and stars......best I go get started me thinks!
Have a good one all and hugs to those in need."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning everyone :hello:
Happy birthday JackieO and hugs to SmowyOwl, PennyPincher and anyone else who needs some. BargainRzl, ((hugs)) to you. I hadn't seen that story but just read about it on the BBC, so sadI *do* think Peckham is a better place to live than it used to be, but something like that involving a young boy can just break your heart
Not much going on here. Had a bad night with teething baby and snoring DH so on a short fuse today. Taking the boys to feed the ducks this morning. Parsnip soup for lunch.
Have a good day everyone. That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0 -

Thank you for your kind thoughts regarding my mother after my post on Monday. She has another appt with the GP next Mon (I will be attending too) and he will be referring her to a specialist.
Well, we finally found a shop yesterday that sold Stardrops:j, Poundstretchers in Belfast City Centre.

Good Morning All
Very cold & frosty here.
hope your sister feels better soon penny pincher, I had ovarian cysts removed when I was 20, they had to remove 1 tube and 1/2 of the other, and I was lucky enough to still have children after that. My heart goes out to your sister.
Happy Birthday to JackieO have a good day
DS still not well, he did perk up last night, but coughed endlessly throughout. So, its another day off school for him and a day off work for me!
dlb glad the boys enjoyed their night. It was a late night for them, but worth it. Like you say, its not often you can afford treats like these. So 1 late night wont hurt them. When do they break up from school? Mine break up thursday.
Bargain_Rzl I was posted in Woolwich back in 92-94, so I know how you feel. But I must admit, I felt safer living there than I did when I moved to Birmingham in Dec 94.
Will attempt to crack on with some housework today. Ready for the visitors arriving on Friday.
Right, best make a start
Take care all
Love as usual

A slightly better night than Monday, was still awake at 1.30 but must have dropped off soon after, woke at 5.30 and then when the alarm went off at 8.00am.
Bloomin' cold here, -5 according to the thermometer, car playing up again, fault it went in for last week has not been done so OH has just gone off to see them.
We had some bad news last night, a dearly loved relative in the US is in hospital, I keep in touch via her son on 'tinternet. She had an operation for bladder cancer 2 -3 years ago, but it looks like they did not get it all, she now has an abdominal mass with a secondary growth which appears to have eaten away the top of her tibia, the long bone in your leg. She is 84, I feel that she has gone through enough and should be allowed to end her days in peace and with dignity. She has had such a lot of sorrow in her life, she had 4 sons 3 have died as did her husband some 12 years ago, her one remaining son lives with and cares for her. We wait for more news when her biopsy results come back later today.
I have workmen in the house..........gggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrr messy people, will be giving them the hoover and duster when they have finished.....the sun is out, so its bright, but we are forecast for snow on tomorrow, hope its does not lie, we are supposed to be going to Wiltshire on Sunday.
Right I am off to boil the kettle for OH when he gets back, he will be frozen, its a cold walk through the cemetery at the best of times.:coffee: calls..........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

Morning all,
Happy birthday Jackie O :bdaycake:
Rzl - It must be frightening when something like that happens so close to where you live. I hope you feel safe soon. I think getting involved with a community project is a brilliant idea! Sadly I also think that regeneration is great but just moves the social problems somewhere else. Still, hopefully your area is on the up and this is just an isolated incident.
Am not in work today so I'm having the opportunity to get on with some house things. I haven't had a moment to recently. We were away on holiday week before last, then straight back to work. Last weekend I went to Wales to spend the weekend with OH to save him having to drive home. It was lovely. We had fantastic weather and had a beautiful walk in the Molewyn mountains. Views were amazing! This weekend we are off to a youth hostel in Coniston in the Lake District. Hopefully we'll have good weather again and be able to get some good walks in.
It was parents evening last night. DS is in Yr 6 and is predicted to do well in his forthcoming SATs. All was well, except for the fact that DS can't resist coming out with wisecracks in class that disrupt the other kids. He likes to make people laugh but the teacher is getting really fed up of it.
I'm a bit worried about him because he seems to be absolutely exhausted at the moment. He gets in from school, has his tea and falls asleep virtually instantly on the sofa. I then have to wake him up at about 8.30 to put him in bed. He is 11. Any ideas anyone?
Right, I'm getting nothing done on here am I? Have a good day everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90
