Expensive V Cheap Shampoo/Cond

Hi,
Can you recommend any good shampoos and conditioners that don't cost loads? For the last couple of years I've only bought expensive shampoo and conditioner (Kerastase, £13 a bottle) as a hairdresser commented on the rubbish condition of my hair. It is such a waste of money and I would love to hear if you know a good alternative.
Thanks!

i've just started using palmolive for oloured hair-about £3 each fot shampoo or conditioner-and i love it!
i have really fine curly coloured hair-its now shny and non frizzy looking0 -
I use Kerastase - in this case I think you get what you pay for... but would be good to know if you find a cheaper alternative that's as good!
I think I usually get mine from HQ Hair and try and do it when there's an offer on or good cash back (10% at TCB at the moment!)0 -
I liked Herabl Essences when I bought High Street, if you want to stay premium I would recommend Redken - fabulous stuff:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I find for me if i use high street shampoos/comditioners i need to to rotate them.
For super cheap i like the Gliss oil one in the yellow bottleoften in savers; i use an original source mint to remove build up and cleanse my scalp and i like Pantene when i'm going to wear my hair down as the sillicones weigh my hair down and stop the frizz.I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -
Good thread! I have very greasy hair which is fine and which there is a lot of and have spent tonnes on shampoos reccomended by the hairdresser but have never been happy. Even fell fouol of the QVC L'Occitane and MOP sell but they don't do anything either. I shall be following this with interest.
ATM I use PAul Mitchel tea tree (juts to use up, not for pleasure!) and Lush solid juniper shampoo - nice but nothing special.0 -
I've used many different shampoo and conditioners over the years and really do think much of the expensive stuff is worth what it costs.
Not only do you need less to get your hair cleaned/conditioned but it just gives a nicer finish. I have also tried the Pantene stuff and it wrecked my hair a while back: damaged due to the silicon overload which then dried out my hair and I have heard others with the same experience since. Head and Shoulders makes many hair professionals shudder as it is apparently so harsh it can be used as toilet cleaner (quote from a professional hair technologist), Herbal Essences made my scalp itch- nothing has ever done that before!
My sister uses Redken as she can't afford Kerastase, she says she can notice the difference but that its better then the supermarket stuff.
I get mine as gifts or wait for ages and then get a bulk-deal from a website when they're offering a 15% off or whatever code. It meant I got my bottle of shampoo for around £8 and it lasted a good few months! I also have clubbed together with friends so we all pay a little and get stuff for a similar amount if we buy in bulk. Its much easier though to get given stuff for gifts or second hand from ebay0 -
I used to use expensive shampoos (Kerastase, Redken, Paul Mitchell) and then I stopped and used high street shampoos (Elvive) but after a while I found that my hair was very dry and strands of hair started to break off. I've since gone back to using Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner (moisture one) and I use Moroccanoil Light Oil Treatment (£30 a bottle) and my hair is in much better condition. I think you get what you pay for.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.0 -
I have used Aveda for about 14 years and IMO it's the best out there. I buy the litre bottles and use the pump which is very economical, this lasts me about 6-8 months.
I have tried other brands but have always gone back to Aveda. I changed about 7 months ago and my hairdresser noticed that my hair had dried out so definitely will not be changing again - I'm sticking with what works for me. I alternate between Shampure and Colour Conserve.

I used to use expensive brands but have now switched to simple and find it is fine! Very Mse!2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0

i use various brands e.g. aussie, toni and guy, those kind of high street brands, certainly not salon brands - and hairdressers always comment positively on the condition of my hair.
think the chemicals in them are very similar tbh, it might be what else you do e.g. excessive colouring, straightening etc0
