  • Off to Vegas for the first time on Thursday :j
Not booked any trips or shows or got a real itinery but got a well-thumbed Time Out guide to check out.

Anything I need to know before I go - vouchers to print out?

    Some basic questions;
Staying at the Vdara - is the Walgreens (nr PH?) worth a trip to pick up snacks and beer for our room?
Anyone got a view on the Penn & Teller show?
If you get offered a drink whilst on a slot machine, can you order a cocktail or is just beer?
Do slots take little money (ie, 25 cents) I'm not a gambler but would like to play?

    Thanks folks X

Anyone got a view on the Penn & Teller show? Not my cup of tea-certainly not worth full price but usually deals to be had
If you get offered a drink whilst on a slot machine, can you order a cocktail or is just beer? Yes you can order a cocktail -or a coffee ......I'll often have a Bailey's coffee with whipped cream -Don't forget to tip at least $1 per drink
Do slots take little money (ie, 25 cents) I'm not a gambler but would like to play? You'll see lots of "penny slots" with 25 or 50 lines so can easily play for 25c per spin

    Thanks folks X

The first thing we do after checking into our hotel is head to Walgreens or CVS to stock up on beer, juice and snacks for the room. They are much cheaper than the hotel shops. I believe the new Walgreens is just across the bridge from Cosmopolitan, so handy for you at Vdara.

You can order pretty much any drink from the cocktail waitresses. I like to try out a new cocktail everytime to try them all. My next trip I want to try out the Chocolate Martinis in Cosmopolitan - they are meant to be delicious!

Hope you have a great trip! :T

I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think Walgreen's sells beer. You can get beer from ABC stores in the Miracle Mile beside PH.

I would work out a rough itinerary or at least an outline of what you want to see or do before you go. The one time I didn't do this was on a 10 day trip and I was "bored" after 8 days as I didn't know what else to do.

Since then I have done a planner with possibles and it has held us in good stead. We never get bored even on 14 night trips as I always have something that we may or may not do.

Don't know about the new Walgreens opposite the Cosmo but there is a CVS on the same side as the Vdara - go through Aria and out towards Monte Carlo, only a few mins :)

I did wonder about the free beer post?

I dont think its free with Delta transatalntic

Maybe I'm mistaken, I seem to remember having free beer last time (Jun 2011) on the Atlanta to Vegas flight, but my memory might have been a little hazy (I'd had about 7 beers by that point on the transatlantic flight!)

    38 days til I go, can't wait.
  • Hey everyone. So its time for another Vegas trip. I'm off in three weeks. I was just looking at hotel prices, curious really to see if I could get a a bargain. I booked all my hotels in November. But I am going with my Mum and she isnt overly excited about TI (I got a good 50% off price so booked it) I thought I would check out prices for Mirage as she has wanted to stay there since she first went to Vegas in 1991. I found a great price (only £50 more than my TI reservation). However its on LowCostUSA. So here's my question........I did have a question took me a long to get there but I do have one..........LowCostUSA any good? I've never used them before. Anyone had any problems with them? They say the resort fee is included??? I cant see that being right?? Also while I'm asking. I got some cashback from my Expedia booking if I cancel that booking now do I have to give the money back? Cheers everyone.
  • Hi
I've booked with Low Cost (flight & Hotel) and go on Thursday. I got a good deal for the Vadara which works out atbout £75 a night and includes resort fees. I did ask the guy when I rang up why they were so much cheaper than Virgin (about £80 per person for 7 nights) and they said they are prettu much always cheaper than Virgin and proud of it. I checked this forum for info on Low Cost and others had used them without any issues. The voucher you get from them states inclusive of resort fees (where appropriate to the hotel) so confirms the position. Enjoy X
