The Tropicana ( £1684 ) which is ranked at 15th on Trip advisor or the Mandalay bay resorts (£ 2051 ) which is ranked at 77th despite being 5 star as opposed to the Tropicana which is only 3.5 star.
The price difference between the 2 isnt a lot and we can afford either but after reading trip advisor I am more inclined to go with the Tropicana..............

Just after general advice, Our main thing is we want a good pool area as will be spending a couple of days around the pool hence going for 9 days as opposed to a week.

Any advice on the hotels at all ? or any other tips we may benefit from ?
MB is a different class to Trop. However, Trops just been refurbished and I think its fab. Pool Club there called Nikki Beach which rocks apparently.....plus regular pool. MB pool from memory has a quarter mile of beach, and I would think it beats Trop poolwise.

For the same price, I go MB. TA reviews for Vegas used to be meaningless.....a couple of mank hotels in the top ten.

any advice for transfer from las vegas airport to hotel - Ba charge £127 eachway.

    many thanks in advance Carol

I do hope that's a typo or it is a REALLY big party? Or maybe includes a flight to Seattle or something? :)

Maybe consider checking hotel prices here:

I haven't used them, but for the higher-end properties a lot of times people seem to find good deals and Venetian may fall into that category, worth looking anyway.

    Great thread.

1st post on here so fingers crossed I'm in the right place.

Were going to Vegas for our honeymoon later in the year and are lucky that a friend works for virgin and we can get his discount of 20%. We are going to do 9 nights from Gatwick on the 11 Sept and have narrowed it down to 2 hotels,

hi we are hoping to honeymoon in vegas from 6th sept for 10 nights, but will split it 5 nights one hotel, and 5 nights in another. i have been pricing hotels on the following websites
    https://www.lowcostusa.co.uk
    https://www.travelrepublic.co.uk
    https://www.expedia.co.uk
** i have just priced 5 nights at new york new york for under £500 for 2 ppl which leaves you well under budget for the rest of your stay**
Also dont forget to check cashback websites like quidco as you can get a few quid back when using a site like expedia

    hth :-)

Anyone done this or know of any discounts?

    Also looking at thegunstorelasvegas.com

I know a few of ye have been. WHats the easiest way to get to it? taxi? and is it easy to get a taxi back. Read somewhere they were hard to get if you go off peak.

    Thanks in advance

We went to The Gun Store last January, we went by taxi and there were taxis outside waiting to go back to the strip. It was pretty busy when we went (Sunday lunchtime) we went on the private range but I'd estimate it was maybe a 30 minute wait for the regular lanes. The only coupons I saw were for $5 off which was pretty measly given what we spent! I think they even forgot to apply it at the end. We did get very cool souvenir t-shirt and vest top each which were included in the package.

We're back over in less than two weeks now, getting very excited!

Happy New Year everyone, feels good to be able to say am off to Vegas this year now!!!!

Just seen this on Facebook about Bellagio adding 3 new songs to the fountains... http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/news/2011/dec/28/bellagio-adds-three-new-songs-its-fountain-attract/
  • Looking forward to new fountain songs...although we will be able to see them but not hear them from our room!!

Daft question alert - is a UK Photo Driving License acceptable as ID in Vegas?

We have been ID'd before going into the Nine Fine Irishmen (we were 30 and 40 at the time!!!) so we carry our passports. When travelling in New England we were told our DLs weren't acceptable as ID because 'they could easily be fakes and nobody would know'. Obviously I would rather leave my passport in the hotel safe if possible.
