Hi, sorry - I'm a bit confused! We're going Saturday for the first time.... Do they give you a receipt for the total value of the drinks and you just tip them whatever you want?
    Yes,
The bartender will put a glass in front of you with the receipt for what you had to drink on it, it's for the comp records. There will also be a pen in it, you are supposed to sign it but we never have and have never seen anyone else do it either. When you finish he will take it away and scribble some signatures on it. When he gives you a drink tip him a dollar or 2, if you have another drink he will put another slip into the glass, same procedure tipping as before
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Son back from Vegas, said he only went to bed 2 nights and slept all the way home in economy!!
Already planning a longer trip for August, says he never got to do half of the things on his list. He daren't tell his mum what he got up to and he's 30.

Stoneman - where did they end up staying? Did they stick with the Platinum, or did they change it in the end?

They stayed at the platinum and friend agreed It was a good choice. They went to MGM where there was a mock up of a new suite and thought it looked pants compared to what they got. When he mentioned me to Julio the valet when asking for a taxi to the airport, they got to go in the hotel car for free. He is defo staying there in August. Says he really hammered the room service and most of the stuff didn't show up

    Hey Guys and Gals!!

So a wee update, I've just booked up tonight for 2013...5th time in 6 years!!! :rotfl:

Dates: 6th June to 20th June

Flying via BA going via the Gatwick route, so leaving Glasgow, down to Gatwick and straight to Vegas arriving at around 3pm Vegas time, much better than the later arrival in all honesty.

Flights after cashback were about £790 which wasn't too bad as I much prefer the direct flight over/back and the later departure on the return.

Hotel wise we'll be staying in two hotels this year all down to the way they wanted to play off the comps. It turned out I had better deals then my Brother in terms of the prices so the more expensive stay is booked on mines and the less expensive for him is booked for the first week.

1st Week 5 Comps, $232 at The Flamingo *Brothers TR*
2nd Week 5 Comps, $296 at Planet Hollywood *My TR* (Couldn't book both on mines and when over 7 days was selected the price went waaaaaay up)

Between the 3 of us it works out around £8 a night each, really can't complain with that for a 2 week stay :D

Plus the hotel is paid upon arrival so hopefully the exchange rate gets better by the time we get out there.

    Nearly 7 months until I go :D

Just a thought, the Mirage buffet deal on Travelzoo includes tax, and a MBR deal wouldn't include tax. This makes it about $2-3 for the wine really so it's definitely a good deal if you like wine or beer.

I'd definitely buy it if it was valid for when we are going. I'll be looking out for deals next summer for September.

I might be too late and don't have time to go through the full thread apologies. Only started looking today and we leave tomorrow morning at 4am. Can you give me aresume of the free drinks thing? Please?

Oh and we are staying at the Venetian if you have any other tips!

That's really cheap, but I notice you say it's between 3 of you. Watch out for extra person charges on the room.

Flights just seem to be expensive, doesn't seem possible to get for less than £700 these days from Glasgow in summer. We only managed to get for £585 last year because we flew BA to Los Angeles instead of Vegas! Actually worked out quite well, but tot the same price difference for next year so we're just flying direct to Vegas next September. Must check my Total Rewards from time to time in case there's anything interesting on there. We could have got some free nights a few years back, but there were 6 of us going that year so it wasn't possible to take them up on it.

What about the Travelzoo Mirage buffet deal? Mirage will be just across the street from you.

Casino Royale (next door to Venetian) has frozen margaritas or bottles of Michelob for $1 (at the casino bar).

Wynn has a fantastic champagne brunch, however you can add champagne to any meal so it may be cheaper to add the $12 bump to a late lunch one day during the week. Champagne brunches are only Sat/Sun.
