  • Bought the 24 hour pass buffet ticket which was $49.99 and good value as we managed 2 evening buffets, breakfast and lunch. Ate in Paris, Harrahs and Spice Buffet. Really enjoyed them all - masses of choise. Think I enjoyed Paris the most though.

Interested in this too!! Why oh why did I leave this to last kick?
  • Has anyone been in Vegas on Christmas Day?

Yup. Twice. What do you want to know? IMHO in Vegas, its no different to the day before or the day after.

I might be too late and don't have time to go through the full thread apologies. Only started looking today and we leave tomorrow morning at 4am. Can you give me aresume of the free drinks thing? Please?

Oh and we are staying at the Venetian if you have any other tips!

All drinks are free while you are playing, whether slots or BJ or poker or whatever. Just tip the waitress a dollar or two per drink when she brings it to your table/machine.

At the bar its the same if you are playing VP or other screen game, just tip the bartender. He takes care of any bill.

PS All means all regular drinks e.g. ornery brandy rather than 5 star brandy, sparking wine rather than top champoo, Shiraz rather than 20 years old claret. Some even replace Red Bull with their own cheaper energy drink.

Just a thought, the Mirage buffet deal on Travelzoo includes tax, and a MBR deal wouldn't include tax. This makes it about $2-3 for the wine really so it's definitely a good deal if you like wine or beer.

I'd definitely buy it if it was valid for when we are going. I'll be looking out for deals next summer for September.

The Travelzoo deal doesn't include tax or gratuity. I've been charged £24.50 on my credit card for two so still think it's a good deal with drinks included. Will have to try and linger a bit and have 2 glasses of wine rather than my usual one.

Even without the drinks it's $10pp less than the normal price.

However when we did the LV Hilton with drinks included, I just had half a glass of wine as I preferred the soft drinks.

I saw that you enjoyed Gordon Ramsay's. What did you have and will you go back?

I'm really glad we went and I'm intending booking for next time so will book about 3 months ahead based on what you said. However I won't be having the banoffee tarts next time as they were a huge disappointment.

I've been really remiss in writing a trip report...had planned to this weekend and failed miserably.

For starters hubby had a pork belly starter (looks like it's different to the one on the menu now) and I had a ricotta raviolo (the one with the egg yolk in the middle)...both were awesome...I had the beef wellington and hubby had the filet after a huge amount of deliberation. Deliciousness abounded. We went a bit mad with sides becasue we like different things and had mac & cheese (naturally), loaded jacket potato that was just stupid in size, candied brussel sprouts and (I'll get slated for it but we did order it) pan seared foie gras. Everything was fantastic except the foie gras (wasn't expecting actual liver which I cannot bear) and brussell sprouts (because ew, brussell sprouts...hubby liked them, though thought they should have cut a bit more of the stalk out).

We were too full for desert but would have tried just about anything on the desert menu...I think if we go back we will skip starters.

Would we go back - possibly. It was worth it, we agreed completely...and hubby did actually have a win on the next slot he sat down at that exceeded the total GRS bill. I think we have a short video somewhere of him holding the ticket in front of the machine saying '$20 in, Gordon Ramsay Steak Dinner out...done!' I'm just not sure we would be able to justify it every trip...especially as we seem to miss out on several favourites each trip as there are now too many.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

So if you are playing anywhere and they offer you a drink they are free?

Has anyone used restaurants.com? Is it an e-mail voucher? Are they quick to send them? We leave at 4am tomorrow? If you have is there anywhere in particular you would recommend?

    Many thanks

What about the Travelzoo Mirage buffet deal? Mirage will be just across the street from you.

Thanks but this is sold out!

  • We would like to do something a bit different on Christmas Day. Would you recommend taking the helicopter trip over the GCanyon (there are a couple of operators working - but probably most expensive day in the year?) or drive out and see it from the car? Or are there any "special" things that happen in Vegas on Christmas Day?
    Thanks.
