During the days shorts were fine. But it's all relative to where you are coming from. It's -3C here today and people are out in shorts because it's sunny.
OMG shorts in -3 degrees. And I was saying to my husband about him wearing shorts to tennis today but it was about 7 or 8 degrees (and partly sunny so it felt chilly!)0 -

One year we took a cruise from San Diego along the Mexican coast. The Canadians were in shorts and summer gear. The Mexican crew were in Parkas. Real winter wear that we would wear when it was -5C and below. This was December. Back home it was -25C when we left.
I'm not sure if we are tough or stupid to live in this climate. Like I told my mother when I moved to this part of Canada, it's not bad until it get's below -22C. That's because the hair in your nostrils separate and freeze! It's a dry cold in my area, which is way better than the damp cold of the wet coast where I grew up.0 -
CASINOSRRRRodga
That's really cheap, but I notice you say it's between 3 of you. Watch out for extra person charges on the room.
Flights just seem to be expensive, doesn't seem possible to get for less than £700 these days from Glasgow in summer. We only managed to get for £585 last year because we flew BA to Los Angeles instead of Vegas! Actually worked out quite well, but tot the same price difference for next year so we're just flying direct to Vegas next September. Must check my Total Rewards from time to time in case there's anything interesting on there. We could have got some free nights a few years back, but there were 6 of us going that year so it wasn't possible to take them up on it.
Thanks Lesley,
Really happy with the deal I must say
Well in terms of the 3 people staying I got my quotes on 1 person, 2 people etc and when you click through total rewards to get to the final page it makes the adjustment on the nights you're staying.
Say it was a guide price of $74.95 for the paid nights, it would then jump up to say $95.00, so everything should work out absolutely fine.
Certainly check your total rewards before you go next time, although it can be difficult/confusing to get the comps up. Going through standard reservations I was looking at over $700 for 7 nights after putting in mines and my brothers TR numbers
However, on the main TR page (MY TR) there is a notification panel on the right where you can cycle through the hotels. Select one of the hotels there and it routes you to the page where you can get some comps on your rooms. Well it worked for us at leastNever had anything showing on offers but going through this way done the trick.
Also as I said previously it doesn't like you booking more than 7 nights (comp wise) and also trying to book a second week in the same month (yup I tried that since my bro's was more expensive).0 -

Had a look. Nothing interesting right now, but I'm going to keep checking. $26 for The Rio in December and January. I've only got 76 points though, mega low roller lol.0 -

If you are logged into TR, just go to reservations and try your dates at a particular hotel...then you can scroll down to see the others for those dates too and compare. You can try using the calendar but I find it can be misleading and more confusing. Can also be worth it to play around with dates - change the first night to be a few days later and see...it can change things quite a lot.
Is also worth trying with and without a companion if there are 2 of you with accounts...it's still usually the case now that me + hubby is more expensive than hubby + 1 random person without a TR number...but sometimes it's a lot cheaper with the 2 of us on the same reservation, just depends.
One thing that makes me so annoyed - it seems a lot of times if you have, say, 5 nights comped...and pay for 2 of 7 total...sometimes those that you pay for are more expensive than if you went through their hot deals or Friends & Family for those dates...that irks me.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Ferf, in that case you should make 2 separate bookings and ask for them to be linked when you check in, or would that not work?0

Hi There
First timer going to Vegas next week! Have read most posts on here which have been a great help! There is SOOO much to take in!
Have a few quite specific points would like advice on...
1)Staying at Mirage. What is the situation with safety/ security and money, is it like Europe in the sense that money should be locked in a safety deposit box etc? Am planning to take all my money changed in dollars, would there be a safer alternative to this?
2) Flying from Gatwick via Virgin, has anyone paid for VRoom and think its worth it/not worth it?
3) Thinking about buying an ipad in America, where would be best place to go?
Many Thanks!0 -

It has worked for us in the past - also when we used to do 2 bookings - one on my hubby's account and one on mine, we used to email them to link them...or you can ask at check-in and they can do it there so you don't have to check out and into another room...just saves them a bit of time if you get it done before you arrive, we think.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

All the hotel rooms have safes that you can set the combination for and their is a daily user fee.
I usually take a couple of hundred in US and charge the rest on my Mastercard. Having said that I really don't buy that much down there anymore. We won't discuss the Tag watch that I accidentally bought in April.
IPad, the Apple Store, Best Buy, or even Walmart. But they all cost about the same.
I'm down there on the 30th for five days. I'll keep an ear open for an English accent0
